Re: 660/12 wider necks

The only difference between a 660/12 and the Tom Petty Signature Edition, is the top pick guard.

The 660/6 is the same as above, but with six fewer strings.

How RIC finishes them these days is very different than back in the 1990s.

Re: Advice on 1965 365 with bigsby

My advice is not to make permanent modifications into vintage guitars, if you want them to keep their resale value!!

Re: Most break angle from a 620/625?

The heavy gauge strings were on that short scaled 1996 guitar for a reason.

You can't keep it in tune if you don't use them.

I learned that the hard way with my 320.

Re: I'm learning to play and I'm in doubt...

The very first musical instrument that I ever played, way back in 1979, was a baritone Uke. It is tuned just like the bottom 4 strings of a guitar, DGBE, to the exact same chord shapes, like a D (0232), or a C (2010) play the same as a guitar that is missing the two top strings, after 6 months of th...

I own one too.

I used it in a stage play last year, with my 1977 JG 620. It nails the classic RIC tone.

Re: Mike Rutherford's Rickenbacker Basses

Thanks Brian. That would make more sense that it was a proper 4001 that was combined with the 360/12. Again, I remember Mike clearly saying he had his red Rickenbacker combined with the 12 string, the red Rickenbacker being his RM1999. But I'm thinking that he was just being expedient in the interv...

Re: Mike Rutherford's Rickenbacker Basses

Hey Folks. Long time since I've logged on. I have much to get off my chest: 3. Getting back to the interview, he further stated that he had "that" (referring to the above "red Rickenbacker 4001") and a Rickenbacker 12 string combined into his famous and beautiful black Rickenbac...

Re: 60's Jackplate on Ebay

I was thinking that the register and/or the forum might want to be aware of this detached FCxxx jackplate, since I guess it would be yummy for a forger. https://www.ebay.com/itm/132468340121?ul_noapp=true I would be at least a little bit more wary if I was offered, say, a -66 4001, not in the regis...

Perhaps Gil can correct me, but I believe once the images are deleted they are gone forever... Unless someone backed them up.

Re: 1973 4001 parted out

Brian: This is, as has been noted a problem for the Register. I am inclined to begin culling these instruments if we no longer have images of the original. We have saved butchered instruments with little hope of following the trail of the parts over the course of time. We now have more than 500 but...

Re: 1973 4001 parted out

I do not mean to create any controversy here. All I am saying, is directed at one individual, who keeps deleting images of the guitar or bass and replacing them with images of the carcass. I have shown my own process in using the butcher to find SNs. (When he sells the jackplate, or more commonly fr...
