What's the old saying?

"You can pick your friends, and you can pick your nose,
but you can't pick your friend's nose."

Maybe untrue... LOL!

Great photo!

I'm in awe of your's and Dale's skills. That is going to be a killer bass when it's done. Not that it wasn't, it's just going to be killer, plus! Enjoy!

Hi Sean, this is a bit off topic, but how's the Joe Osborn working out for ya? This is Reid out in Oregon, cheesybass on ebay, I thought your username looked familiar and checked through my email, and low and behold! Anyway, this is cool that you have a 4001V63, I always wanted one of those. I got ...

Hey Kevin, I don't know that I'd characterize installing a HipShot as going to the "dark side." It will brighten the sound of your Rick greatly! At least the brass version had that effect on mine.

Congrats!

Dane - that's cool, and it's useful information. It looks like a fair price you're charging, too. So, does anybody have do-it-yourself tips on bridge modification?

Mick is right, that's a NICE looking bass, Alan.

Hey folks, I'd like to make a suggestion here. Since there are at least several people, Jeff, Dane and Gary that have modified their bridge/tailpiece assemblies, how about somebody start a thread on this topic? The modifications you guys have made appear to be pretty simple and could be accomplished ...

Well that's cool as a moose! You've got practical experience at this, already. When I was contemplating, "How the deuce do I fix this intonation problem?", I never considered "Going in from the front."

Only since I've been on this board have I seen the tailpieces with the screws in the top/rear ...

Scott, are you sure that's a HipShot? It looks so much like a Rickenbacker bridge, it's hard to tell! ;-) LOL

After the Rotosounds ate my frets alive during the 70's, I had my Rick refretted in the mid-eighties. I believe the tech said he put medium jumbos on it. I always liked that term, "medium jumbo," it's so oxymoronic.

Fortunately, the Rotos had no ill affect on the neck. That sucker is straight and ...
