One of the better live performance bands I've ever seen. It was somewhere ...

Re: Favorite Bassists
Not gonna add repetition to the outstanding line up already posted. I saw Humble Pie back when Peter Frampton was in the band. Greg Ridley was the guy that made me say I wan't to play bass. Dee Murray also an influence.

Re: new 4003FG
Paul, Thanks to you as well. I'll go back through my set up, get the action lowered and re-check intonation, but for now, the pad seems to fit fairly well....Jack.One of the problems is that the pad itself is just a big too large........

Re: new 4003FG
John, Let me add my (belated) welcome to the forum. Very nice FG. I have an FG as well; got it in January of '09 with guidance from members of this forum.
Sounds like you and I may be not-too-distant neighbors. I see that you had mentioned Fret Not Guitar Repairs in Newport News. I have traded e ...

Re: classicaxe
Well, I've been out of the loop for awhile, so this may be a little late. I bought a '08 4003 FG from Classic Axe in January 2009 with the help of the good folks on this site. I dealt with Russ Craig over the phone. I was happy with the price and Russ could not have been more congenial to deal with ...

I can't say why, but when I look at this travesty, I can almost hear Jeff Foxworthy doing a riff on redneck bassists......

Re: I May Need a 12 Step Program!!!
I hear ya! Imagine how many steps I've had to take:
For the record (and the for benefit of us less experienced bass acquisitioners) how many basses must one have before one can more discreetly add to the collection? My guess is the magic number might be around seven..........give a couple, take ...

Re: Rick Learning Curve Question
I like the feel of a neck that is bound. It just feels a bit more comfortable in your hand. A well-crafted guitar without neck binding should feel nearly as smooth as one with binding if the frets ends are tapered with care. Bound necks have a snazzy, formal look to me. Like I initially stated, I'm new at this, so thanks to all for weighing in. Having gone through so much info that contains way too much technical minutae, I really appreciate everyone sticking to the general concept. Seems that I get the clearest information on this forum. To paraphrase: get enough ...
