Re: Ric 330, Vox AC30, and TS808

Folks, you mentioned this Kevin Parker as though his name was John Lennon, Mick Jagger, Bono. Everybody on Earth knows the bands that come with those names, yet you assumed Kevin Parker leads us all to Tame Impala. I have heard of Tame Impala. I knew that a Rickenbacker is used by a band member. Bu...

Re: 1988 620/6 Neck Adjustment Failure

From what I understand, all Rickenbacker truss rods should be adjusted that way.[/quote] Nope, that's for the old style rods. One as recent as 88 I believe has the newer system, which is simply righty tighty lefty loosey. The change was in the early 80's over a few years' transition period. JB is co...

Re: 1988 620/6 Neck Adjustment Failure

The way my luthier explained working with Rickenbacker truss rods is like this--you loosen the truss rods, then physically move the neck where you want it. Then, tighten the truss rods to hold it in place. If you're trying to move the neck just using the rods, it's going to put too much tension on ...

Re: Some Guidance on Getting a New 360/12?

Congrats on the new guitar! Should be fun exploring all the sounds it can make. I found with my 330/12 that using Rickenbacker strings on it got it really close to a vintage sound, even though it originally had Hi-Gain pickups. I later had toasters installed, which sound great. But to me, it didn't ...

Re: What's the Fascination with Old Instruments?

It's funny--I usually prefer the looks of vintage instruments, but the benefits of having a new guitar. So actually vintage reissues are great for what I like about guitars!

Re: R vs Trapeze Tailpieces

Speaking of which, I just ordered a R to Trapeze conversion kit, the tailpiece and bracket set with the correct screw distances so I don't have to drill any new holes. Nothing wrong with my R tailpiece, it's a 6-string guitar, but after reading so many stories I guess it won't be bad to have a spar...

For my 620/12, I use Rickenbacker strings. They sound and feel the best to me!

Re: Model of the Week 24: The "C Series" 4001C64 and C64S

It seems on Facebook recently that a bunch of people have bought one of these and posted pictures. Maybe it's the official bass of the pandemic? They're great basses. I sure wish Rickenbacker would offer a bass with vintage features, maybe bring back the V63.

Re: Accent vs Bigsby B5, pros and cons?

Okay, so yesterday, I got a chance to play a 1967 fireglo 375, and I have to say, I didn't find the accent obtrusive at all. Never hit it or really noticed it that much, so I think I will go for a accent for my Capri build! I think the older Ac'cents are much better than the modern ones. I had orig...

Re: what .009 strings are closest to Rick compressed strings

I use regular Ernie Ball Slinkys (.10-.46) on all of my Rick six-strings and love them. I imagine their .09 sets would be great, too.

Re: Source for Rickenbacker 95404 strings

I'm lucky. My local guitar store, Fuller's Vintage Guitars, which is also a Rickenbacker dealer, carries Rickenbacker string sets. I usually buy a couple of sets for the very reason the OP listed--in case I break a string.
