Wow, what a stunner.
There is no doubt which model wins cosmetically!
Thanks very much for your help.

Re: 250 El Dorado vs 650 Colorado - Battle of the Hummies
Hi Werner,
Thanks for the response.
Is there any difference in the pickups?
I know the 650's have a casing around the HB's but are there performance or output differences between the two?
Overall, would one model be suited more to hard rock/metal than the other, or is the main overall ...

250 El Dorado vs 650 Colorado - Battle of the Hummies
Hi Everyone,
Looking for advice on the following.
I’ve been offered a 1992 250El Dorado, which is very interesting and rare in my country, however I’ve always thought that the 650 Colorado was the premium Humbucker Ric.
Basically, should I go with the 250 or hold out for the 650C? I’m not too ...

Re: Advice on best models + modification question
Well, that's reassuring :)
But yeah, not many official Rickenbacker retailers in Ireland, only 1 actually and most of their 2021 stock is already sold on preorder.
I'm going to have to keep on top of Reverb.com & Irish vintage stores that sell pre-owned, of which there is only 2 in my locality ...

Re: Advice on best models + modification question
Hi Dom,
I'm using a Fender Hot Rod Deville 212 IV.
I don't use any overdrive from the amp, just EQ & the clean channel for my effects board.
Thanks for the advice re 350 or 660/620, the issue is finding a store or person that has one of the models to try out.....it's very slim pickings.

Re: Advice on best models + modification question
@Dom,
Jim Martin FNM tones on a Rickenbacker is EXACTLY what would suit my originals band.
In your opinion would a 350 with Hi gain be better than a 660 with Toasters for this tone?
When you throw Top Petty stiff into the mix, is there an obvious winner?

Re: Advice on best models + modification question
Thank you so much for welcome!
I never knew that about the 350SH, so did all of her custom models come like that as standard?
Your 620 looks aesthetically brilliant with that PU arraignment.
In regards to some one who is strictly rhythm (insert SOS joke here) how would you rank each type of ...

Re: Advice on best models + modification question
@electrofaro
That's very interesting regarding the 650C HB's
I know Mike Campbell had them put a HB in the bridge of his 325/350hybrid custom, specifically for solos.
That is why I started thinking about all 3 types in 1 guitar.
Regarding the Hi gain v Toaster, 620 V 660. I'm thinking that ...

@blueflamerick
That would be incredible if you could post a demo, can I bother you for a picture too?
I knew someone, somewhere must have tried this.

Re: Advice on best models + modification question
Thanks to everyone who replied.
Just at it relates to collin's point about the lack of dramatic difference in Pickups.
Am I better served getting a 620 over a 660 due to High Gain vs Vintage Toasters?
I have always thought the 660 is a more revered model, and would be perfect for Tom Petty stuff ...
