Re: Loving my Laredo.

Every 4004 gig is a good gig! Just sayin'. The the thing I kike the best about the 4004 is that the upper strings sound FAT! Really FAT!

Re: 4000/1/3 vs. 4004 Poll

For some reason the two 4004's have a lot more punch on the upper frets on the D and G strings than the 4003 where it sometimes sounds a bit thin. This could be a result of the pickups themselves, as the hot 'buckers favor the midrange. On the other hand I have noticed this same thing about my 4004...

Re: 4000/1/3 vs. 4004 Poll

I have a 4004Cii, a 4004L, and a 4003. For some reason the two 4004's have a lot more punch on the upper frets on the D and G strings than the 4003 where it sometimes sounds a bit thin. Also the nice quiet pickups work a lot better on stages with lighting -- i.e. no buzz. The other thing I really li...

Mine arrived yesterday. Fastest cover to cover read I have ever done! Now mind you, I mean that in terms of looking at every distracting picture in the book first!

Interesting. Was that a Hartke Kickback 15 you had your 4004 going through by any chance?

Re: 4003 versus 4004

It all depends on the venue and room size. Also my mood plays into it too. It's generally a very intangible decision.

Re: Post of picture of you PLAYING your ric

My 4004Cii MG. That and my 4004L BB are always perfect for playing a small room. They fill out the bottom nicely without too much volume.

Me too. Mine are rock solid. I very rarely adjust them. Now my 4003 is a different story for some reason.

Re: How to re-gauss a cranky Horseshoe

I remember reading once about how Chris Squire's infamous RM1999 bass had it's horseshoe get de-gaussed. In fact it got so bad he disconnected it or something to that effect. This would seem likely as I remember seeing him live in the mid-seventies and his bass sound had gotten much lower so I assum...

Re: Your favorite neck?

I know this will make me appear silly to some but I love the FAT neck on my 2008 4004 Cii. Many years ago, I had a 1975 4001 that had a thin (as far as depth goes) but kind of wide neck and it always crossed me up for some reason. I also like the not so wide but semi-baseball bat bat shaped neck (ve...

Re: Jack Bruce Documentary

Check out what looks to be a 1990's Japanese Bass VI reissue on his wall around 5:30 on the video. I guess he missed the one that The Fool painted and apparently ruined. That one is now on display at the NYC Hard Rock Cafe.

That's definitely one of the best looking 4004 Cii's I've seen. Congratulations, Joey!

Here's my 2006 4004L BlueBoy. I had just wiped it down to try to minimize that creeping green tint that the BlueBoy's tend to get after a few years.

Re: Is Trans Green still an option on the 4004?

I played one with a one-piece neck at a store last year. Looked pretty nice too. The only problem was that the E string was noticeably weaker than the rest. I have two 4004's myself (a Laredo and a Cii) and neither of them had this problem so I got a bit nervous about purchasing this one until they ...
