Re: .0047 capacitor
Without the cap, the center position sounds quite different from either the neck or the bridge pickup on its own. The best I can describe it is a little bit 'bubblegum' or 'quacky' (sorry it's hard to describe in words). With the cap, the center position sounds more like a blend of the two pickups ...

Re: Capri Bracing Questions
Thanks for the reply. That makes sense. I couldn't see how it was much of an effective brace, but I do see how it could hold the body together.

Re: Volume control "bump"
Worst case scenario is that it's a defective pot that needs replacing. If you like the guitar otherwise, I'd just get the pot replaced. JMHO.

The smart money's on the 4-string. Once the rock and roll fad passes, people will come back to their senses and embrace the tenor guitar.fluffy wrote:yeah, and it's going to be offered as a Baritone for a limited run!!!

Re: Lemmy 6-string? What madness is this?
Rough estimate: 3 man-months of engineering labor, 20 hours of machine time to test, $3000 of materials (billet aluminum, phenolic, wood, various hardware).
Well, I'm surprised by the three man-months to program for a guitar, but you would know. Other than that, I don't think it's inconsistent ...

Re: Lemmy 6-string? What madness is this?
No offense taken. Always happy to be enlightened. And I do have some tangential background in musical instrument manufacturing, although not guitars.
But there are a few things about which I'm pretty confident. There would be no new hardware needed, deeper cases aren't an issue, and RIC already ...

Re: Lemmy 6-string? What madness is this?
It just goes to show you how easily RIC could reissue something like a Capri, which is really just a minor tweak of the current design.
a.) That's not really true. (Thicker body = thicker wood stock, wider body dimensions = different case, plus different internal bracing, CNC programming etc ...

Re: Best model for. . . .?
I sort of agree. Turn the tone to mush, plug into a lousy sounding solid state amp, and play as many notes as you can, as fast as you can.sloop_john_b wrote:Any guitar can do "jazz".

Re: Oops i installed it again (Bigsby B5)
Both the Bigsby bowtie and roller bridges are designed to work with a vibrato. Obviously the rollers roll, but the Bigsby bridge pivots on its base, like a Gretsch bar bridge. A Bigsby vibrato will return to pitch every time unless the strings are getting hung up elsewhere. If you're using a rolling ...

Capri Bracing Questions
So, I've been looking at Capri pictures lately and noticed this one showing the internal bracing of a Capri:

Re: Rees-faker (59-ish 4000)
I think he's clearly okay. If it had the RIC TRC shape, or the horns or headstock had a hint of cresting wave, then there would be trouble. Besides, I imagine that by now the RIC police would have gotten it pulled if they had a problem with it. I think it's really the gold backed lucite and fireglo ...

Vintage Toaster Pole Pieces
Can anybody tell me if the pole pieces in vintage toasters are staggered at all? Are they just flat under the cover? If staggered, then I assume they'd be set for a wound G? I'm just having a hell of a time with balance. I'm using flatwound Thomastik Infelds 11's. I can't get the G balanced. When I ...
