Re: 1954 Combo 800 Guitar with Non-Wave Headstock
This is besides the point, but when this guitar is completely restored, with a new refinish. I wonder how much this is worth being rare and all with square headstock and all original parts. I know the blue books say starting at 1900 dollars but are they referring to the "wave" headstock ones? I only ...

Re: 1954 Combo 800 Guitar with Non-Wave Headstock
Well hopefully it will be restored to look like your cool guitars. Yours are all shiny. There is already a plug made for it. Its wired like a 600, I have the schematics somewhere....

Re: 1954 Combo 800 Guitar with Non-Wave Headstock
Mine is wired like the Combo 600, with a Hole Plugged up in the body. My model probably helped develop the combo 600 since mine has a C600 pickup and wiring. Mine has single red wire and thats it. I have only 4 "lugs" on the bottom of pickup. This ones body has a hole drilled where the 2nd toggle ...

Re: 1954 Combo 800 Guitar with Non-Wave Headstock
Thanks for your info and help Graham, really man. You seem like a wild and crazy guy from your photos. You have too many guitars, you need to give some to me. I will post better pics to this post as I take them, details and the like. All this is for educational purposes. I will take one of the ...

Re: 1954 Combo 800 Guitar with Non-Wave Headstock
My image quality is bad. All you see is a shell but I have all the parts in a padded bag. I replaced the rotting bakelite tuning buttons with plastic ones of that era. A truss rod cover needs to be made but a modern one won't fit. later.

Re: 1954 Combo 800 Guitar with Non-Wave Headstock
I forgot to add, i was looking on the back of the metal back cover that covers the whole back, someone at the factory wrote 8c410 and circled it in pencil. This guitar serial is 8c413 stamped on the bridge. Also there is a math problem (fraction) worked out in pencil. hahha. All of this is inside the ...

Re: 1954 Combo 800 Guitar with Non-Wave Headstock
From my research, i think I have figured some things out. This combo 800 has the extra toggle switch hole, (missing switch), which has been covered up with aluminum disk that fits in the hole. It has a Combo 600 style pickup, and is wired like a combo 600. Ironically, It has a combo 800 body/neck ...

Re: 1954 Combo 800 Guitar with Non-Wave Headstock
It at one time it had the rickenbacker truss rod cover logo, but it is missing. (three holes are drilled)I am having to have one made. The gentleman who owns this made his own truss cover (he says he traced it from the original perfectly)and interestingly, it is not like the normal ones. (I don't ...

Re: 1954 Combo 800 Guitar with Non-Wave Headstock
Its not a copy, the gentleman bought it in 1960, at a pawn shop. It is stamped 8C413 2nd. on the rickenbacker bridge. Has rickenbacker horseshoe pickups and I believe it is the 2nd Combo 800 ever made in 1954. The straight across headstock is right before they started the Wave Headstock. It is rarer ...

1954 Combo 800 Guitar with Non-Wave Headstock
I am working on a 1954 Combo 800 with a headstock that does not have the "wave" type headstock but rather more traditional and rectangular shape like a Martin Acoustic Guitar. Can anyone comment or explain this. Every picture on the internet shows the wave type headstock and not this one. There is ...
