5 string spacing

Is there any Ric 4003s5 owners or anyone that has played a stock 5 string with no Mods done to it ,then to one that has had the string spacing mod done to it???? If so is there a difference noticeably??? I have a spacing 2 1/16" I can go 2 1/4 maybe 2 3/8..I want to space them apart farther if there ...

CJ i think your correct about the body. i looked at the pics I belived the wings fell off and glued backed together and painted it to hide the glue job.
Parts is about it on this baby.

I like the V-shaped nut slots. They allow you to change string gauges without modifying the nut slot. My 4001 basses have V-shaped nut slots. Though I did have to widen the B string slot in the nut of my S/5 a bit because I like to use a .130" B string and it makes quite a difference in diameter ...

Thanks guys.I never thought about it that way being a small USA company with little output and handcrafted materials but the same time offered it for over a decade.And being so when you go to a music store like I did today and did not see one Ric hanging up..Just to back up my ??? when I bought mine ...

Thanks for the info on the bridge.I will half to check into that.As for the strings I use Ric strings.
I did a complete set up 3 weeks ago.I do have my action low and about a 10thousands gap on the 12th fret with pressure on the 1st and last fret I do belive the 22nd and I adjusted intonation on it ...

Hey Thanks for the welcome everyone.My bass is a 2000 made in March.I had it sence it was new.
Everything is standard.I like the feel of the five with the strings tight together.the only disappointing thing about 5 is the B string it sounds muddy or sloppy.I dont know if its the scale lenght being ...
