My 73 4001got "checkerboard binding", split thooth bridge ,toaster p/u,wavy tuner's,and a beautiful sound.
Life is a good thing.
PS:Does the year 73 is special for Basses?
Whit mapleglow finish, she is a beauty.

I had removed the guard, and the swicth selected for treble, again128k.Same thing whit the center lead unsoldered.
I removed the treble p/u assy,and again all wires look ok
The toaster 7.2k is right on,so, i will check the wiring diagram,just to be sure,and look for a replacement p/u.

At 129k on my ohmmeter (7.2K toaster),something is wrong.

I check and clean both (jack and switch)and again , the treble p/u did not have much gain.
I,ve got it since 84 and she's always been like this.Anyway's i will do something whit the treble if i can.

The toaster is maybe 2x louder then the treble.
I can't rise the treble high enough too compensate.
You know what happen when the string touch the screw.

First time for me.
Great article very nice information.
I got a 4001 (march 73 MG) whit a big difference in gain ,toaster versus treble (possibly HS)p/u.
Didn't care in stereo but whit 1 amp its an another story.
Can i do something about it?.
