Re: New to me 4004
I'm fairly certain the 4004C was identical in make to the 650S. The users' manual says to use tung oil and doesn't differentiate anything for the neck. I think I used Dr. Stringfellow's Lemoil on the neck my 650S when I had it. I don't remember if I put tung oil on the neck or not.

Yes. Everything is the bridge pickup. To me, the neck pickup is a little bit muddy and I rarely use it.

How did you do that? I copied the links under the embed thing and it just came up blank. I must not have the skills.

Some Queen covers on my 4004
Here are three covers of Queen basslines I recorded the other day. I used my 4004. I go back and forth with that bass. Sometimes I like and some times I don't. I wanted to try it out again so I chose to use it over my 4001 and my Precision bass. See what you think. http://youtu.be/L5aVbiswJeY http:/...

Re: push/pull pot
I had to pull/cut the bottom tab off the one I put in my '79 4001 when I replaced all of my pots. I also had to move my ground connections to the side of the pot instead of the bottom so that it would fit in place. This was a standard CTS push/pull DPDT. The one I bought a while back from Pick of th...

I bought a Rick from them a few years ago online and it was a seamless transaction.

Re: Halloween leftover
I love Precision basses. This sounds like a great idea. Maybe one day I'll try something like it, but I should probably try to get my sons through college first and they are only 4 and 6 months, so, it will definitely be a while

Re: Lefties in
I write with my right hand, but brush my teeth/comb hair with my left...swing a bat righty, cut food with a knife lefty...wear a watch and a waist-belt as a lefty.....I've driven in England, too.  Truly ambidexterous..? I reckon it's something like that. Same here (but far from ambidextr...

He's in Scotland. He's at the mercy of the distributor in that case.
What is the store's return policy? If you really aren't happy with it, take it back. There is no reason to be this frustrated with a brand new bass.

Re: BREAKING UP NICE OLD RICKS FOR PROFIT...
What this seller does to guitars doesn't bother me at all since he bought them. His customer service seems to be severely lacking (though I didn't have the same experience with the one part I bought) and that could get him in trouble if it is habitual. If people quit buying his parts he'd probably q...

Re: Is the bass in Something Drop D?
Guys, I've always thought it went (and played it this way), from the ''A" string, C, B, A open, G, E, G, C. Paul would bounce off of octave notes in his playing to provide more dynamics, but in re-listening to the isolated bass track for 'Something', I can definately hear the drop down resolve...

Re: Praise for Rick's Basic Product Line
Mark---RIC didn't ship their manufacturing jobs overseas, including to third world countries. That ALONE puts them on a higher pedestal than Fender, Gibson, Gretsch etc. ... In my opinion, this doesn't put them on a higher pedastal than anyone. This is a business decision RIC has made and since it ...

Re: Praise for Rick's Basic Product Line
The other companies make the multitude of products because there is demand and they have the capacity to make them. It is good for the musician to be able to get a lower priced or higher priced Fender or Gibson if you want it. If they weren't selling the models, they wouldn't make the models.

Re: If John, George, and Paul Didn't Play A Ric, Would You?
No, I am fairly certain I wouldn't have bought a Rickenbacker, at least not the first one I did. I wanted one because it was what McCartney played and that they were supposed to be good basses. I suppose I would have probably stuck with Fender otherwise.
