Where does quilted wood come from? I know a lot of guitars advertise birds eye maple, quilted, or flame. Do these grow on different trees and are they really that much harder to get? Do the NAMM guitars hit the streets or are they put up in an "archive" file somewhere? If they do get out, are there any markings to indicate they are NAMM? Just curious...

I've read some about the varying construction of the 4004Ciis. My understanding is the one pictured above with the nice maple top has a layer of walnut sandwiched between two pieces of maple.
