Re: 4003SW
I assumed it was for that when i opened the packet, but it was definitely too small for the pole pieces.

Re: 4003SW
I lasted 3 weeks before I took the treble pickup cover off. Try as I might, I just don't like them. I also found that a random allen wrench was included with it. I guess I'll throw that one in my tool box.

Re: Wiring diagram again.
This diagram is pretty useful, I think. http://www.seymourduncan.com/blog/wiring_schematics/bass Scroll down and find the Rickenbacker diagram. The diagram is for humbuckers, but you can wire the single coil the same way if you ignore the extra wires and just use your positive (pickup switch) and ne...

Re: 4003SW
It is the lightest one I have. I don't know if it is just the walnut wings, or something else, but it is a noticeable difference.

4003SW
I said I'd never buy another one, but that only lasted about 5 years. I ordered this from Guitar Center and picked it up last Friday. I liked this setup when they came out and got a really good coupon from Guitar Center so I ordered it. I didn't know it was an oil finish until I got it, but it remin...

Re: How to install an HB1 on a 4003?
RIC uses the same tone caps and out of spec pots in EVERY SINGLE INSTRUMENT they make, unfortunately, so a new 4004 harness will make ZERO difference in the tone if used with a 4004 pickup. I find this interesting, and not just for Rickenbacker, that even (what I consider) expensive instruments use...

Re: The Japan-only new limited 4003 with checker binding
I generally started ignoring a lot of comments from the factory, mainly because either the models/options are offered or they are not (and it doesn't really matter why), partly because they could just be frustrating, and partly because the arguments didn't always add up, at least to me. If the bindi...

Re: One man's take on Guitar Center
It seems to me that one of the implications the author was trying to make about Guitar Center is that they put other stores out of business. There are only two entities with that sort of power and the one I will mention here is the consumer. The consumer chooses where to buy his goods and when large...

Re: Color acuity test
I got a 0. I don't know if it was just my mind interpreting the color, but I could almost see a pattern forming across the colors, almost like a rubbed pencil, to help line them up.

One thing to look at, too, is that these companies were sold to Fender, so the creators of the company got their buyout. In my mind, whatever Fender wants to do is up to them. If they take the technology, if there is a market for it, they can market the tech as Fender and it will still be available....

Re: Sometimes I think I should just give up
I hadn't thought about the phasing issue. Is the HB now out of phase with the toaster I have installed? I usually don't use them both at the same time so haven't really paid much attention. I had to cut the grounding tab off of the push pull switch I have now and it still barely fits. My current wir...

Re: Sometimes I think I should just give up
I have that on the humbucker I put in my bridge pickup. That's how I found the single coil problem in the first place. The sound was the same pushed and pulled! Standard push pull pots are nearly too big for the control cavity, though, so I'd probably just go with a standard pot.
