Re: Fret temperament
Hi thnaks for your reply, I should have left the question open! I'm not sure what you mean by intonated properly, both Rick and Eko are fine internally it is only in relation to each other that the they are not right. You can by ear painstakingly find a decent median, but it really is like two diffe...

Fret temperament
This is a question for Paul Wilczynski. Do American guitars have a different system of fret temperament to European made ones? I ask because after playing a Rickenbacker and picking up a European made guitar like an Eko, the Eko does not sound quite in tune, yet after playing for a while the ear adj...

A Glasgow Rickenbacker Thing
I was in one of the London guitar shops chatting about guitars with the man and I mentioned I was from Edinburgh, and he went 'Ah! now I get it - Edinburgh, Edinburgh-Glasgow, Glasgow Rickenbacker thing'. Question is. Is there a Glasgow Rickenbacker thing?

Rokes Ekos and Rickenbackers
One of the great 'Italian' groups of the 1960s the Rokes provide a link between Italian and British pop music. They wrote and played some beautiful songs, and played Ekos and Rickenbackers. Have a look on You Tube or get the Best Of CD.

Re: Tremolo for a 360
Thank you for link. Is it really as simple as taking the R off and putting the Accent on? And is it generally considered a decent tremelo or not?

Re: Any "no effects"/"effects challenged" types lurking here?
I had a practice session in late 80s with someone at college. I was 17, he was a couple of years older, he liked things like Killing Joke and Echo and the Bunnymen, and he wore a black jacket over black jeans. Anyway, on an old Yamaha SG with and an older Marshall valve 50 (very prone to cutting out...

Tremolo for a 360
I've got a standard late 70s 360 with the R-tailpiece and I thinking about a tremelo fitment. Is (or was) there a fitment which replaces the R but which is non invasive and does not need holes drilled - and keeps the strings in tune?

12 String headstock development in the 80s
Does anyone know if 80s 360 12-string headstocks got bigger like the 6 strings? From what I can make out in the 70s and into the very early 80s the 12 strings stayed with the older-type (are they Kluxons?) tuners, while the 6 strings moved over to the bigger Groovers. But then in the early 80s for a...

Re: Rickenbacker vs Fender (Side by Side)
I had an 83 Jazz one of the last Fullerton basses and it was wonderful. In fact it may have been too big, too impressive. Now I have a 1978 4001 which cannot compete for sheer presence, but the Jazz filled up too much air space and the bass was just too fundamental. The Rickenbacker on the other han...

Registration before ownership
Firstly I should say that the register is an excellent resource which I fully support. However I would like to know what the situation is when owners find that their instruments are registered - often taken off auction sites - before they purchased them. Can new owners then get the instrument de-reg...

Are Rickenbackers pop guitars?
I've been giving this some thought recently because I am becoming increasingly dissatisfied with rock and pop music. Are Rickenbacker's simply pop guitars; how versatile are they? I know they can sometimes jangle and growl, but on the neck pick up do they sound as good for rhythm and blues as for ex...

Re: Rickenbacker + Amplifiers
I have to agree with some of the early comments, Ricks in general sound best through solid state amps, they don't really suit the warm valve sound, but I don't think that they suit the post 80s ultra clean hi fi type amps either. I use some old tranny Fenders and HH's, both have excellent reverbs, a...

360s from three to two piece tops?
This is another one of my 360 questions! When and why did the 360 change from three piece to a two piece top? While the earlier tops may have been a wood saving device the later tops may have been a labour saving device with one less butt joint.

Re: Pick up differences on two 70s 360s
Thanks, I am going to try to post a photo of the innards of the Mapleglo it does look like one of the yellow wires to the MWF2547 might be cut.
