Re: 610 Truss Rod Question
Hi Guys, Just a quick update.Got the guitar back, and the chap I took it too said he straightened the truss rod as best as he could, which I'm a little disappointed with. It plays just fine so will leave it for the time being. He did a great job levelling the frets and putting on a new nut, so thoug...

Re: 610 Truss Rod Question
Yes, safest is to have a professional do it. So long as said professional does know how to work on a Rick. If said profession says something like: "Well, it is a Ricky so I can not guarantee this will work because Rickies are....." run away! It's Jimmy Page's old guitar tech, so I ...

Re: 610 Truss Rod Question
Call me a coward, but I've bottled it, and taken it to a very experienced luthier in Denmark Street in London. He will hopefully get the job done properly. Just can't risk my Edward Scissorhands causing any potential havoc to the guitar, as it's taken me an age to find a lefty 610. However, I have b...

Re: 610 Truss Rod Question
Ok Paul, you've convinced me. I have done a thorough read of all truss related posts that I can find via the search button, and will set about the task. There is a fabulous amount of good advice from all of you here, and for that I'm grateful. I will now go for a long walk, ask myself if I really th...

Re: 610 Truss Rod Question
Cheers Chaps, it sounds a wee bit over my skill level to be honest. I don't really want to go messing with removing truss rods, and such like. I will study the link in this thread and see if it might be something I can manage by myself before attempting it. Does it actual matter if the truss rod met...

Re: 610 Truss Rod Question
Hi Gier, Yep you are spot on. The spacer plate does sit at a weird angle to the nut, and I was wondering that myself if is should actually be parallel to the nut. Quite clearly it isn't, as the left hand side of the plate seems to have moved forward, meaning the plate is now no longer straight. I gu...

610 Truss Rod Question
Hi, I seem to have a problem with one of the truss rods in the Rick 610 I have just bought second hand and wondered if anyone might have some advice on how to get to the bottom of the problem. Which is this. The truss rod on the treble side won't loosen anymore, in order to give me more relief, with...

610 Hairline Cracks On Back Of Neck
Hi Guys, My Rick 610 seems to be developing some nasty hairline cracks to the back of the neck. Does anybody know if this is something to worry about, and what could be done about them? http://s1086.photobucket.com/albums/j444/sdbanotts/?action=view¤t=NewRic610054.jpg#!oZZ1QQcurrentZZhttp%...

Re: Replacement Ric Nut For Lefties?
No worries Brian, I appreciate you trying to help. Yep, the slots are angled down, ever so slightly towards the headstock if it were to set up for a right handed player. Even the official Ric dealer here in the UK, Rossetti said it would be fine for a lefty as well. If I were to put this on left han...

Re: Replacement Ric Nut For Lefties?
Update Guys, So I ordered the nut from a stockist in the UK, and it has confirmed my worst fears! It's really only suitable for a right handed setup! It's for a right handed guitar only, due to the fact that the nuts slots are cut downwards at a slight angle towards the headstock end for a righthande...

Re: Replacement Ric Nut For Lefties?
Brian, many thanks for getting back to me, appreciate it.
I'll order it, and can't wait to get started on turning it back to a lefty.
I'll post some before and after pics when I'm done.
Cheers
Scott

Re: Replacement Ric Nut For Lefties?
Thanks Brian for getting back to me. This is the one I mean... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230475180422&fromMakeTrack=true&ssPageName=VIP:watchlink:top:en#ht_1551wt_845 I can't tell from the picture if the string slots slope downwards on one side, thus meaning it...
