Thanks Kira, I'd have posted sooner but I've been busy (i.e. in Afghanistan) so guitar playing has been a little on the back burner!

Re: A quick pic of my 430
Yeah, they're Higains moulded into plastic cases. I believe they're only seen on the 430.

A quick pic of my 430
Hey guys, thought some of you might appreciate a pic of the rig I've been messing about with for the last few days;

It's my '72 430 with added Bigsby and bridge plate (thanks Kira!).

Perhaps the only one anywhere! I've never seen another. Shame you don't have photos.

Re: Your favorite amp?
Here's the same rig with my CIJ Jazzmaster. I put an AVRI tortoise pickguard on it last night so it's a little different.
Gotta love those Japanese Fenders.

Did your old JM have blocks and binding?

Re: Your favorite amp?
Very surfy indeed! You can do a lot with these setups though, it's all in how you approach them. I think versatility is in the mind and in the intent of the player, not in the equipment.
Still got the Jazzmaster?

Re: Your favorite amp?
It's a great combo! Sounds excellent with my Jazzmaster too, as I'm sure you can imagine.
It sounds pretty good with my 430 too, it's just lacking something because of the silly bridge.

Re: Your favorite amp?
My current favourite is my 1960 Fender Twin-Amp, one of the very first tolex twins (serial no. 20).
It's pictured next to my 1961 reverb unit (again, an early one: they started at R00100 and this is R00111) and my lightly modded  1954 Gretsch Duo Jet.

Re: 430 questions
Yeah sure, I'll get some at some point over the next few days. Kind of embarrassed about how bad the Schaller bridge looks though....
I need a strap button too, any idea where I could find one?

Re: 430 questions
And that's it rewired!
The individual pickup volumes still function the same (though I removed some pointless caps) but the neck tone is now a master volume for the whole guitar and the bridge tone is a master tone with a 0.018µF blue molded Fender cap from an old BF amp. It's pretty much the ...

Re: 430 questions
The rest of the questions are to come! I ought to be looking for a bridge-spacing of about 2", right?

Re: 430 questions
Hmm, the only problem is that the 430 seems to have a really narrow neck... It's 51mm (2") as opposed to the 55m (2 3/4") of my Gretsches and upon trying the Bigsby bridge from my 6128, it's too wide for the 430's neck.
I see un-cut Bigsby bridges online for sale though, is the normal way to do it ...
