Roger McGuinn Impersonator (original solo album)

For anyone that might be interested. I'm David Whitt better, known as "Roger McGuinn Impersonator" on YouTube. I just released my own solo album with cuts that have a retro feel of 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's music. You can preview it on Amazon.com, iTunes, and CDBABY. All electric work was done with ...

Re: Roger McGuinn impersonator?

The JB2 will make your MG12 with VP sound just like the RM model I'm playing on YouTube. The main trick to getting the clean sound is to plug in direct to your recording device. I don't use an amp.

The JB2 has a compression dial where you can adjust it to maximum which will give you the "squash" RM ...

Re: Roger McGuinn impersonator?

I like the Jangle Box...especially the JB2 over the onboard compression on the 370/12RM. The Janglebox has a dial where you can dial in or out as much compression as needed. Early Byrds stuff doesn't sound that compressed, so I choose to dial it "out" unless it's a lead part (Eight Miles High-5D ...

Re: 12 Saddle Bridge Replacement

Who is this Paul and where can I find him? I'm in the San Berdoo area or Inland Empire as they call it. Also on a side note. Is there a way to get a vintage pickguard for the 370? The new ones are too short as their 24 frets extend. I believe the McGuinn model is like the stock 370/12 prior 1968. So ...

Re: 12 Saddle Bridge Replacement

Thank you very much Clement and Todd. That is perfect information. It looks and sounds like a huge ordeal to do it right. Hopefully I'll be able to find a local person in the SoCal area. Thanks for the input guys.

12 Saddle Bridge Replacement

I recently replaced my 360/12 RIC 6-saddle bridge with a 12-saddle straight from the factory. But I noticed the strings are all fanned out evenly rather than in pairs like it used to be. Is this normal? I noticed the factory 12-saddle doesn't have any grooves in it like the 6-saddle did. Is there a ...

Re: Roger McGuinn impersonator?

Hey those strings look like they are right on the money. And they are inexpensive too!

Re: Roger McGuinn impersonator?

So the consensus is that Pyramid strings are stiff? And I see the gauge is heavy especially on the low end. So if (when) you guys use Pyramid strings do you tune the RIC down half a step? Personally this is a pain for me. I prefer to stay in standard tuning. Those other jazz strings someone ...

Re: Roger McGuinn impersonator?

OOps, there was an earlier question. Here's the answers:

1) I have 1-370/12MG VP (basically the modern version), and 1-360/MG VP.

2) I play straight out of the PA for live (or straight into the recording device for recording).

3) I used the onboard compressor for the YouTube videos, but prefer ...

Re: Roger McGuinn impersonator?

Hi guys,

Thanks for all the kind words. Happy to be aboard this flight! I don't have a lot of stories. I did see McGuinn for the first time last December 08'. He's coming again to So. Cal this October. Last time Tom Petty came out for a few songs with him. The venue was real big on no photos or ...

Re: New McGuinn DVD???

Hey Karl,

I don't know about a concert album, but I saw a snippet online where he is working on a studio Chirstmas album. I'm hoping it's for this year.

Hi Byrds Members,

Just saying "Hi." Steve Lasko gave me the heads up on this forum. Thanks for the kind posts.
