As an Observer to this Thread, I thought it would be good to have these ? ? ?'s answered.

I remember RIC is quite anal re jack Plates and TRC's.

To get a replacement, do you have to reach out to a Dealer first? I remember the part about RIC wanting the original piece sent in.

I'd like to know who you trust to rewind pickups, to change impedance. I may further desecrate my 4003S to run with a HG at the bridge, wound to 70's specs.

Second, what was the impedance range of that vintage Hi-Gain? Vintage HS? Do you reckon a new Hi-Gain wound to that impedance ...

My best sounding Fender-form bass is a solid Black Korina jazz. Sounds better than my vintage reissue Genuine Fender Precision.

Back with a newer and sillier idea:

The 4003ST (as in Torrefied)
Roasted Hard Rock maple planks
Dyed Autumn Burst, possibly 100% Black Dye, Oiled finish para la 4004cii
No hardware changes (yet)

Hipshot for the win. Deeper Bass and fuller overall sound, wise choice.
