Re: Rickenbacker.com has been offline recently

I asked Rickenbacker service about this today. He said they were hit by a ransomware attack and have been working on building a more secure website. Said they should be back on the air in the next few weeks.

Re: Binding shrinkage on new Ric?

Re: Binding shrinkage on new Ric?

Yes that’s correct they do scrape the binding removing sealer and paint before the final clear coat is applied which in turn does create a slight step. https://youtu.be/NEuqgZzKxC4?si=V1yKBM54Sq3or6k5 I watched the video and saw the part where they are scraping the binding with a razor blade. So do...

Re: NGD: 660/12

Some additional info…It is worse on the right side. There is about a six inch stretch where I can fit my finger nail in the depression between the body and the binding. No cracking of the finish or anything like that. It’s like either the binding has shrunk, or it is set too deep into the body route...

Binding shrinkage on new Ric?

Bought a new 660/12 from a reputable dealer this week. It was manufactured in Sep 2023. All around the sides of the body where the binding and wood meet, I can feel the transition between the binding and the wood. It is worse on the right side. There is about a six inch stretch where I can fit my fi...

Re: Recently Purchased 381/12v69 Questions

I am considering converting this to a 6-string. I have a 360/12, modified with 12-saddle bridge, and a recently purchased 660/12. So I'm not sure I need three Rick 12-strings, and I do not have a Rick 6-string. I have a little trouble playing the 381 compared to the other two, due to worsening arthr...

NGD: 660/12

I've been looking for a new one of these for many months. They seem to be very hard to find. 20240119_090640.jpg 20240119_090825.jpg 20240119_090845.jpg 20240119_090858.jpg 20240119_090905.jpg I am impressed with how much easier it is to play compared to a stock 360/12 (which I own and recently had ...

Re: 360-12 with wide spacing: Interference between strings

I know this is an old thread, but wondering how this turned out since I am considering installing the Rickysounds nut. If the buzzing is due to the lower gauge strings hitting each other then wouldn't going to a higher gauge string, as someone suggested, just make the problem worse? I've talked to a...

Re: 12-string nuts and bridges

I order two for the Rickysounds 12-string nuts. They don't seem like they are slotted very well. After waiting a month to get them, here is what I got: Tuner side of nut: https://i.postimg.cc/fR410jC0/tuner-side.jpg Fret side of nut: https://i.postimg.cc/MGZwvmZm/fret-side.jpg Are these supposed to ...

Re: Rickenbacker To Stop Lacquering Fretboads Starting Now

Same here. I was seriously considering getting a new 620. Then I saw this thread and thought to myself "hmmm, that wouldn't quite be a Rick without the lacquered fretboard". Not a whole bunch of them available at the moment anyway, so I guess I'll wait to see what pops up in the coming mon...

Re: 12-string nuts and bridges

I don't know if this is useful, but I had a RickySounds wide-spaced nut installed on my 2013 360/12 this week: It's subtle, but you can see the spacing between octaves is reduced a bit, and then each set is spaced apart, pushing the Low E and High E further out toward the binding. Even with this sm...

Re: 12-string nuts and bridges

My 381/12 is a 2010 model, so that might explain why it is so much more playable than my 2002 360/12. Though I am not sure why the 381's nut is spaced a little wider than the wider nut I put on the 360/12 (which was sometime around 2014/2015). Maybe the nuts they started putting on in 2008/2009 were...

Re: 2002 360/12 Turquoise Value: Semi-rare color?

I really love TUR, it's one of the nicest looking factory colors on nearly any model. The downside to me is that the offering of Turquoise seems to coincide with an era of production that I'm not particularly fond of (mid-90s through early 00s), mostly for setup reasons as you're experiencing. That...

Re: 12-string nuts and bridges

Thanks for the info. Yes, the added width is small. But as I have found out recently a little goes a long way. I just purchased a used 381/12. I think it has a modified nut because I noticed it has about 1mm extra space between the 5th / 6th and 4th / 5th strings. There is a noticeable difference in...
