now that I have had my fretless single pickup 4003 for awhile, I have pretty much made up my mind that for me the dream Ric bass would be an unlined fretless 4004.
So should I hold my breath, sit on my hands, or pretend I never had that thought/urge and go my merry way?

Re: Replacement TRC and possibly Pickguard
Yep, I am at about 5 degrees north Latitude…south of the Panama canal in Medellin and international shipping into/out of Colombia can be challenging to say the least!

Replacement TRC and possibly Pickguard
good evening all! I have decided that I simply must replace the truss rod cover on my Ric bass. It’s a 2008 factory fretless 4003. The bass currenly has a black TRC, and a black pickguard. This bass has been modified into a single pickup fretless 4003 and I am also thinking hard about replacing the ...

Re: Playing a fretless ric
Regarding strings on my fretless Ric, I have been reading a lot of the propaganda about the Dogal Hellborg strings, both round and flat wound. I am a huge fan of Jonas Hellborg. I wonder if his signature string construction really does make a significant difference in the tonal output of a Ric Fretl...

Playing a fretless ric
About 3 months ago I finally got my unicorn…a fretless Ric. Its a 2008 4003 factory fretless that has been converted to a single pickup, which is great for me, because I am totally a single pickup kind of player. Its been quite an eye opener and an education getting familiar and comfortable playing ...

Re: Wish List - Rickenbacker bass Offerings and Features
Does anyone here have any secret inside info on the possibility of a new run of Fretless Rics? And specifically LH fretless? I have my own fretless now and I am just thrilled with it! I have had a total of 7 fretless basses, and my Ric 4003 is by far my favorite! I have a buddy who is a left handed ...

A very old Rush Pic
I found this somewhere recently on the internet. I am guessing its Rush from the early 70’s. Mostly based on Alex Lifeson. He hasn’t looked like that for several decades! Maybe someone here can enlighten me on what kind of Rickenbacker bass that is that Geddy is playing. It looks to me like a 3000 s...

Re: All Them Witches
I was handed the answer to my question over on another bass forum.
Here is a link to a very interesting youtube video chat with the bassist for ATW and his 2 unique highly modified Ric basses. Not for the hard core Ric afficionados…might seem sacrilegious to them…

All Them Witches
I just saw this video on Youtube of All Them Witches performing live on KEXP’s live soundstage. The bassist, Charles Michael Park Jr. is playing what looks to be a radically cut down Ric bass. At about 8:30 into the video you can see a very clear shot of the bass, definitely a Ric tailpiece and the ...

Great suggestion! However Viajero is masculine….no problemo….Viajera - traveler!
So thats it! Shes La Viajera and lives next to Blanche!

Re: Fretless 4000?
Hmmmm…a possibility! But flighty has birdbrain connotations…the stereotyped dumb blonde!
I have a very nice luthier built classical guitar made from maple, spruce, and spanish cedar. Its very blonde, so I call her Blanche (blonde in french)
Maybe Frivola, spanish for flighty?

Re: Fretless 4000?
Its a sweetheart….now I just have to come up with an appropriate name to cement our long term relationship! I feel extremely fortunate to have been able to get this bass from you….and one of the best parts, is that I am really a single p/u bass player. I have always struggled with excessive knobs an...
