I have this lift on my '89 JetGlo 4003, reluctant to take the bridge off as I can see broken paint round the front.

Update - I removed enough of what turned out to be a thick layer of paint at the bottom of the truss rod cavity, the tool I use on my '05 4003 now fits.

I have two, both 4003 FLs. No idea why the photo is sideways btw, it isn't like that in my photo library.

I have a tool which works for my '05 4003 but won't fit this one. You're right about not removing any wood, that would be tempting fate. I'll find something that will fit I'm sure.
