Thanks, CJ, then I will go for one. I see there is a ground wire on the assembly. Does it attach directly to the tailpiece?

When I purchased my '74 4001 in '75, I removed the pickup cover and mute assembly, both of which are long gone. Yesterday, I replaced the pickup cover with a new one and am considering getting a new mute assembly. Unfortunately, I don't exactly remember how the mute works, so I don't know if I want ...

My '74 walnut 4001 likes the Ric-O-Sound. Bridge pickup goes through a Wattson SuperFuzz (now called Classic Fuzz) on the scooped midrange setting and into a Fender Rumble 60. Neck pickup goes through a Boss CE-5 Chorus, Boss TR-2 Tremolo and DigiTech Synth Wah into a Fender Rumble 100.

Thanks all for the warm welcome! My Ric has a glossy finish. I just registered it today and found that it was manufactured in November of '74, more than a year before I bought it. The '76 models were on display, but the salesman, whom I had known and trusted for several years, got this one out of ...

Greetings, I'm the original owner of a walnut 4001 that I purchased in 1976. This seems to be a rarer finish than most. Anyone else have a 4001 with the same finish?
