Re: Flats

The construction is similar, but they sure don't sound the same. Both are considerably bright for a flatwound, but the Fenders seem richer and fuller. I think the difference might be in the final polishing step, where Chromes are polished smooth and shiny, but the Fenders are left plain (also making ...

Re: Flats

I'm just glad he can use the strings, because I didn't need them anymore. My c64s is great (in jetglo no less!?!)! Never better in fact. Last night I took it over to a buddys house and had the frets crowned and polished. Cleaned up some edges, etc... now it feels as smooth as it sounds! The zero ...

Re: Flats

I have a few sets of flats I'm not going to use. GHS Precision 45-95, La Bella 43-104, TI's, and the new Fender flats 45-100. I've setteled on an old set of TI's for my bass now, hopefully they last another 4 years! They sound so sweet now though. If you want to try any of those sets (already cut ...

He still works there but don't expect him to go out of his way for you. Ask for anyone else that works there.

Re: 4001C64 – Heavenly Seven

Excellent post! I love your collection. My 2006 c64S has a thinner headstock like your earlier ones do as well. Truly the best feeling neck of any bass I've had. Its fast but not cramped. Thanks for the post!

Cool! I saw one at Truetone Music in Santa Monica a couple of weeks ago. It looked super cool. I love your trio!

Yep, its gloss Jetglo. I haven't seen as many gloss as I've seen matte but they both look great!

To the OP, is yours Matte or Gloss Jetglo? Hard to tell from the photos.

I'm talking about the "S" model, the mccartney modded one (shaved horns etc..). The stock 4001c64 I've seen quite a few in jetglo but not as many "S" models.

I've also got a 4001c64s in Jetglo. I wonder how many are out there? Jetglo is my favorite also.

Re: Post of picture of you PLAYING your ric

I might be crazy but I prefer the sound of the high gain in the bridge position. It sounds a bit thicker and fuller, but still agressive. Also, I've taken out the .0047 cap. I love the way this bass feels. It has the best neck ever, perfect balance, lightweight, and its really versatile. Throw on ...

Re: Post of picture of you PLAYING your ric

It's a C64s in jetglo. I actually sold the horseshoe that came with it and put a in new higain instead. Feels better to me without the shoes and its lighter too! Sounds better as well, but I'm sure I'm the only one who feels that way? :?

Re: Wobbly Saddle Problem

I just recently ordered some of the new saddles ric has been making for my 4001c64s which had all lopsided saddles. They now all sit perfectly flush with the bridge and were super easy to fit/install. They also made it so I could lower the action a bit, now that they are flush with the bridge ...

Re: show your custom bass!!!

This is the other side of the wire, it meets the grid load resistor and is soldered right to the tube pin (no radio interference! yay!). Theres shrink wrap tubing over the resistors.
