Re: Weller and Foxton

I remember seeing The Jam back in their heyday when both Paul Weller and Bruce Foxton used Rickenbackers exclusively ...

Bruce was using a F from 'All Mod Cons' on, but used the Ric for gigs until he started using the F live towards the end of the Jam.
He preferred the sound of the F, but liked ...

Re: Sex Pistols

I think I read somewhere that actually Sid was on very few SP recordings.... they brought back and overdubbed the original bassist (after he had left the band) and they brought in others, on this and that song, because Sid couldn't really play.

Sid played on one recording, Bodies, but in the end ...

Re: Slowdive

I believe the correct spelling is hippie. The establishment, Sears and Dragnet spelled it hippy. Thank you and watch the brown acid.

as one who had lived in the Haight area of San Francisco for 13 years, i can definitely say it is indeed, "hippie." some classier establishments still have their ...

Re: Slowdive

Another great shoes gazer band The Telescopes. My claim to fame hehe, I was in a band with their drummer (who I went to school with) and guitar player before we split up and they joined a band called Sensitive Children who then changed their name to The Telescopes. I was asked to play bass but ...

Re: Tuner Pedal Question

I've got a strobostomp and I hardly use it, I have the strobosoft on the comp which I use mostly.

The stomp is very hard to get used to, I couldn't imagine using it live. The software version is much better, not so fussy how you pluck the string. The stomp you have to pluck the strings very softly ...

Re: How do you do a Windmill?

Pete nicked that off Keef Richards, credit where credits due lol...

Just relax your arm completely and swing from the shoulder, look at where you want to hit the strings and not at your arm or hand.
It helps to hold the guitar at a 45d-ish angle from the body, and swing the guitar slightly towards ...

Wasn't that Johns Rif, written and recorded on his J-160E?

Re: What's YOUR attraction to Ricks?

As a young Mod in the late 70's, early 80's, a lot of the bands I liked obviously played Rics, so that formed my visual style interest. In the 80's I was in a Mod band, playing a '62 Hofner Bass (they were still pretty inexpensive then), our git player had a JetGlo 330 and I just loved the way it ...

Re: Machine Head

...IMO the tuner gears themselves are defective.

That's what I was wondering. Mines a 2002 but it don't mean the tuners are.

I know often companies will sell huge lots of a product, to other companies, that are maybe not as good as the ones they package for retail.

I just don't want to buy new ...

Re: Machine Head

Thanx for the welcome and quick replies...

Nah the nuts fine and I'm using stnd Ricky compressed strings. I know it's the tuners themselves.

They are made in Germany mini Schallers, with the 'S' on them.

Edit; wait I'm a dumbass, I just noticed I typed 660 it should be 360/12. Doh, sorry. I guess ...

Machine Head

I want to replace the machine heads on my 660/12.

The original Schallers have a lot of slack and some stick a little. It stays in tune once you get it there, but getting it there can be a pain.

Are the ones that come stock the same as the after market Schallers? Is it normal for Schallers to be ...
