Rickenbacker Repair Question
I was wondering who should I get in touch with to get my 75 4001 Ric repaired. I've been trying to get a hold of Dale Fortune, but no luck for the last two years.

4001 String Nut
Hey guys, I hope I posted this in the right forum section.
Anyways, I ordered a 4003 string nut from Rickenbacker Boutique and it turns out that its actually too wide for my 75 4001, making the string spacing way too wide for the neck.
How would I go about getting a 4001 nut replacement?
Thanks!

Re: What is Scott Pilgrim's bass?
I saw this poster at the mall a while ago, all I thought was "oh hey a Rickenbacker", I didn't even care for the movie, it was only the bass I was interested in. Sadly they photoshopped out the Rickenbacker name on the truss rod cover...

Re: OH NO!
sorry for the poor photo quality, but I managed to take good ones this time. I posted on another forum and dale fortune suggested some things. So I might as well get post here too and see what help I could get.

Well I tried to do the heat binding for the 2nd time around(1st time went well), but the binding on the one side of the 4001 started to bubble the 2nd time  which resulted in this...

Re: Need Help
would a worn out bearing plate be affecting the operation of the rods at all? Its in pretty rough shape too. So i might order some parts from the boutique store on Rics official site and see how that goes.

Re: Need Help
IM using D'addario 45, 65, 85, 105. I really like the bottom end of 85 and 105s, but due to this problem i keep having, looks like I will have to go for a set of medium gauge strings. I could always have the 45-105 on my jazz too sadly not on the Rick

Re: Need Help
I tried this method as it seems more suitable then holding the neck with my hand. http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthrea ... ost8495834
That didnt seem to help either... So what options do i have left? heat treatment? Lighter strings?

Re: Need Help

I did give the rods more curves before reinstertion, but nothing seems to be working. Somehow Im still ...

Re: Need Help
Ah, just pulled them out, and the neck seems to have actually developed an upbow, so do I try to put the rods back and string it up again to see if there is a fix or just send it off to heat treatment?

Re: Need Help
Oh man I didnt now it was that much of a curve I needed, I only gave me a very slight bend. I've put the rods in right and the bends were the right way. I pretty much did everything in your pictures, including the masking tape. Ill give it another go, check the rods. Hope it works this time. Pics ...
