I've considered switching basses live, but the difference in output makes it a little tricky. I may just do the preamp thing, as I like the variety of sounds of the 4001 pickups. Just thought it might be fun to add an additional pickup in the mute cavity, since that would make it easy to switch back ...

Bartolini/Hi-A Bridge Mute Pickup?

Hey all, just wondering if anyone can describe their experience with these pickups (how they sound, how you wired them, etc.). These are the pickups that fit in the mute assembly cavity.

Paul Alvarez - if you're reading, I noticed by searching this forum that you had one in your '74. Can you tell ...

Dianogah

Anyone else heard of these guys? They're from Chicago and they are awesome. Mostly instrumental, usually with two basses (a Ric and a Jazz bass) and drums. Check them out on MySpace:

The first song isn't my favorite, but check out the other two. If nothing else ...

I traded my American Deluxe P-Bass for a beat up '75 4001, and I thought that was an amazing deal. Good luck to this guy, he'll need even more than I did . . .

Here I am (I'm the big one). How do you like that three-hand tap technique?

I did the bypass, and it sounds good through the cheap solid-state guitar amp that I have at home. We'll see how it REALLY sounds when I try it out through my Mesa 400+.

As for the pickguard, I think it might be fiberglass! Super weird. Check out the pictures below (not sure about how to post ...

Chris, that is a sweet looking bass. I love the color combo between the body and fingerboard. Nice!

New Bridge Design???

Hey all,

First off, I apologize if this topic has been beat to death elsewhere. I couldn't find what I was looking for, so I figured I'd start a new thread.

That said, has there been any recent news about the new bridge design? I have a 4001 with some tail lift, and it would be killer to ...

Joey, after looking a little more closely, I believe you may be right. The hole cut for the pickup is pretty shoddy, and nobody seems to have any input about the pickguard material. So I'm thinking that someone cut whatever they had lying around into a pickguard. Other than the pickup hole it looks ...
