FG finish and fretboard wood questions
I'm looking for a 330 six string and have been checking out a lot of guitar pictures on line. Recently, I've noticed that some of the FG finishes seem to have a much darker edge color than others. Has anyone else noticed this as well? Also, it seems that the fretboards seem to have a whole lot more ...

Rickenbacker 4004 SF Bay area request
I am seriously considering getting a 4004, but have never played one and can't find one in any of the local stores. If possible, I'd like to see one in person first before getting one. So I was wondering if anyone living in the San Francisco Bay area who has one wouldn't mind letting me check one ou...

Question about 4001V63 headstock shapes
Could someone tell me what year the 4001V63 headstocks changed shape and became shorter? I know I've seen that information here before, but couldn't find it again when I searched.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Question about early 4001v63 cases
Could someone tell me what style of case was used for the early (around '88-'89) 4001v63 basses? I thought it was the silver tolex that I've seen on the later v63 models, but have recently seen it described as a special edition black tolex case.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Are DR stainless steel roundwound strings hard on frets?
I have a question for the DR stainless steel round wound string users (Hi Beams, Lo Riders). How hard are they on your frets? How much fretwear do they cause?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Paul - thanks for the information and the pictures. That JG sure is pretty! I think my next Rickenbacker will be a JG.

Re: Do the newer 4003 basses have thinner upper horns?
Paul - Thanks for the link and the welcome. I missed that thread when I searched earlier.
Do you know when they made the change to the thinner upper horns?
I have to say, the combination of the newer thinner neck and the thinner upper horn is a very nice combination.

Do the newer 4003 basses have thinner upper horns?
I just noticed that the upper horn on the new 4003 basses (at least from late 2009/2010) seem thinner than in previous years. Has anyone else noticed this or am I mistaken?

Re: MEASURE YOUR GIRTH
John - Thank you.
Actually there were two different MGs, the one I ended up buying and another one. It is interesting that they both had the same neck measurements, but one had a more pronounced D shaped profile near the neck than the other one.
Sorry for any confusion.
