Re: Does Ric 12 string placement make a difference to sound?
It is ring and middle for the finger picks. Also this is a method that he switched to later on. For early stuff like Mr T Man, he used a traditional thumbpick with the two fingerpicks on first and middle fingers. He stated that he switched later on when he realized that he would need a flatpick for...

He uses metal fingerpicks on his middle and ring fingers, right?

Re: Setup recommendations 360/12
Interesting, Collin! How do the lighter strings affect the action on a 12-string? Do you do a lot of half-step bends (a la Roger McGuinn)? What about string longevity? As you know, one of the ways a lot of us justify spending four times as much as normal on a set of TI Flats, is that we tell ourselv...

Re: Setup recommendations 360/12
Collin, Have you tried POTR's Compressed Wound 12-string set? A bit pricier than D'Addario or Curt Mangan roundwounds, but less than half the price of a TI Flats set. As I'm sure you know, these are close to the stock strings that used to come from the factory, and, in some ways, I think they do com...

Tom Petty's music made a deep impact on my life. Here's how I'd like to remember him:

Re: Different JangleBoxes?
Glad you got that straightened out, Diethard. Hope you're getting some vintage chime from your 360/12 and your original JangleBox!

Re: Different JangleBoxes?
If you're not using a 9-volt battery as your power source, you'll probably have to get a reverse polarity cable. But I would absolutely check with the owner of JangleBox first. He's personable and responds to e-mails promptly: info@janglebox.com If you give him your serial number, I'm sure he can te...

Re: Different JangleBoxes?
I thought the new reissue of the original JangleBox was designed to work with standard adapters. Is the JangleBox you bought used or new?

Re: Different JangleBoxes?
Unless you need a compressor with two fully-adjustable channels, I would go with the original black JangleBox. It's a classic!

Re: Sgt. Pepper’s Musical Revolution
Thanks for sharing, Peter! Fascinating behind the scenes info and track-by-track analysis. This rivals Scott Freiman's Deconstructing Sgt. Pepper, both of them indispensable studies of what some consider to be the most important rock album of all time.

I could barely see the guitar due to the poor quality of the footage. Thanks, Werner, for the clarification!

Re: The Animals - It's My Life
Not only does this sound like a stock Rickenbacker 12-string, but it looks like one. Lots of string-bending for a 12'er! Thanks for sharing, John.

Re: Fender Mustang GT200 Amp
I highly recommend the Vox AC15. Plenty of volume and tone, but lighter to hold than the AC30's. I ordered mine from North Coast Music and had the owner swap out the stock Celestion Greenback speaker for a real Alnico Blue. The result: an amp that sounds sublime with both my RICs. I prefer to plug d...
