I've got a great looking Rickenbacker 360/12 standard made in November 2009, sort of like the one described in this prior post:

It had horrible action out of the box. I took it to a 'respected' luthier in here in eastern Tennessee ...

Re: Hi-gain OVERDRIVE
What height is appropriate for the bridge pickup? Mine was factory set at 1/4" from the base (not including the pole pieces). This could be a major part of the equation.

Hi-gain OVERDRIVE
I bought a 360/12 last Christmas and & love everything about it. I am thinking about 6-string if hi-gains are versatile enough. Namely that it will drive my amp into a P-90-ish tone.
I am comparing the 360/12 perceived output against my Fender ARI 62 Telecaster. I sounds like the Telecaster is ...

Re: Rick Strings
In regards to the avatar: 'yes' it's a fake. A rather ugly fake. I'm using it since I have no pictures of my 360 yet and I couldn't use somebody else's Rick; it would be like living a lie. I like the irony of the Uglybacker.

Rick Strings
Does anybody know the manufacturer of Rickenbacker brand strings? I already have broken a string on my 12-string (the G treble string). I replaced it with a D'Addario 10-gauge string (.25mm I think). Also, I would think that a 9-gauge string would be better in this position--G is 3 half-steps up ...

Re: Found some horrible fakes:
The ad mentions that this factory makes some OEM guitars/equipment for some "international clients". Their 'Epiphone' model looks accurate enough. Don't know why someone would buy an Epiphone for more than a Gibson, since all models go for between 300 & 400 USD.

Found some horrible fakes:
I was searching for some 330's to look at and this happened:

It comes with a good-ole Gibson USA strap. There are a few others on the site as well.

Re: New 360/12 problems . . .
Rickygirl,
It's not serious, but I'm used to F**ders, which I have set low. While the 360/12 needs some adjustments, I wouldn't call it dire. The bridge is lowered already and when I get the nerve, the truss-rods will be next. By the way, I like the way the Hi-gain pickups sound so much, I'm already ...

Re: New 360/12 problems . . .
Thanks for the responses everyone. I'm probabily being a bit too cautious. I did lower the bridge and, sure enough, there is fret buzzing after the 7th fret from the bow. I'm going to adjust the truss rods and see what happens.

New 360/12 problems . . .
Hello all,
I finally took the plunge and bought my first Rickenbacker, a standard 360/12FG, build 11/09 according the the warrenty card. It's the first actual *NEW* guitar I bought; the price was right. It was mail-order, so I didn't obviously "test-drive" it. But I received it about a week ago, and ...
