I got my copy already some time ago but just recently found time to read it through carefully. What a great book it is.....but now I can't sleep at night because I'm dreaming about 4005LS... Thanks for a great job with book Mr. Boyer!

These new fakes really suck but (and I know it's risky to say it here but I say anyway) old japanese copies are kinda fascinating.

More Rattus, this time a live recording (8th June 1985). What makes this clip especially interesting in the bass guitar which is Rickenbacker (or a faker but video quality is so low that you can't really tell).

People often say that vintage instruments sound & play better. I agree, but why´s that? Why can´t the very same factory who made those great vintage instruments, anymore manufacture instruments as good as them? Or can they? (I´m not talking only about RIC but musical instrument manufacturers in ...

If people used them for gigging back in the old days, why can´t they gig them today as well?

Now this is interesting...are you doing just covers or are you doing some radical to those songs? We used to play Haddaway´s "What is love" as a long jam...kinda squeezed it through a "Grateful Dead filter"...or at least we tried.

Some Matsumoku made Japanese basses had strings with white wrap. That was back in the early 1970´s. I´ve been wondering what strings those were.

If you want "Old School" thump , Optima 4099.

Both are low tension strings and are "kinder" to the necks and hardware of Ricks.

Little OT, but do your Optima E-string sound different from the other strings? I mean a lot more thump there? I'm just wondering if it should be like that or do I just ...

My '03 4003 had some some tail lift. It bothered me so much that I decided to do something for it. The template mentioned earlier in this thread was a great help (thanks for that!). My ´03 4003 has a near perfect neck. The best one I have ever come across. Not too thin, nice even round shape and it´s not too wide either. As an opposite my ´10 4003 and another ´10 4003 I once played had both the most unconfortable necks ever. Would be nice to try some of the older Ricks, like ...
