Re: PAUL WILCZYNSKI RETURNS
Replying to myself and to those few who might still be interested-- The Maserati is now legal and I'm waiting for the title before I can finally hit the streets with it. Thanks to a great lady, Silvia Sanremo, who shepherded it through the reams of paperwork, my certification that I am who I say I a...

Re: Kauffman Vibrola Revisited (reissue)
Reading all of these posts, I can't help but think that, while the usual helpful spirit and intentions to assist stand out in bold relief here, nobody's hit the nail EXACTLY on the head, yet. Let's consider the history of the Kauffman, first-- This was a unit created to add "shimmer" (mech...

Re: High E string "choking out" above 12th fret
Is is fret bizz, but not a "sitar" sound? It chokes out, and buzzes? These are three different things. 12th fret or 14th? Best way to solve this confusing state of affairs is to use a thick 6" machinist's scale, standing vertically, and span the 12th, 13th, and 14th frets. If the scal...

Re: PAUL WILCZYNSKI RETURNS
IF ANYONE'S INTERESTED (there are at least two...), here's an update on the cars, guitars (yes!), and life in general. Step TWO--the inspections of the cars--has not happened yet. At this stage, I'm not sure when it will happen. Last post on this was October 12, nearly 3 months ago. The Ufficcio Pro...

Re: JOHN LENNON'S 325 RESTORATION--WHAT CAN WE LEARN?
Where as fakes, copies or clones of the 58 is not beyond the realm of possibilities. Wood grain will be a dead give away; that any of those instruments are not the John played Rickenbacker. I’m not convinced this was ever done, as one will have to get the grain to match as exact as possible; else w...

Yep. Never heard from her. I don't imagine that this is particularly high on this elderly lady's priorities these days...simer4001 wrote:Paul, if you recall I reached out to Yoko to try and get her to restore his 325’s properly. To no avail.

Re: Finish Swirls?
Liam, of course it is possible to get a perfectly "wet"-looking clear coat. If your 360 is pre-2008 (when RIC began introducing UV-cured polyester clear coat), it's much easier than with post-2008 finishes. I have solutions for both. The earlier acid-catalyzed conversion varnish clear coat...

Re: PAUL WILCZYNSKI RETURNS
Jeez! You'd think Italy would be happy to get back one of their own cars built to better emissions and crash standards. This makes me wonder if it wouldn't be better to just sell your car domestically, then just buy another one once you're in country. I did first consider this. Both cars are rare ex...

Re: Rickenbacker To Stop Lacquering Fretboads Starting Now
I have to say that I had a 450/12 from 1966 at one point and the very thin finish on the fretboard served me well. It should help that Factory in getting more out the door sooner as well with somewhat less labour. Also, it will make a refret easier as well. As for the look, I have become accustomed...

Re: PAUL WILCZYNSKI RETURNS
So tell us about "the cars" Paul.... It's another book Dane. Fortunately, below is a cut and paste from a narrative that I wrote in order to bring some good friends back in CA up to date, so that they could coordinate in applying for duplicate titles, which FedEx had lost for 31 da...
