I've reached out to Hipshot so hopefully they're ok to ship to UK.
I've done some tweaks and got the sound back to what I want so all good.
One short screw away from greatness!

Re: Installing a Hipshot to a Ric 3000 series bass
Its a 3000. I use medium gauge as short scale I tried didn't sit in the nut slot well - the taper was getting too thinning before it hit the nut.

Re: Installing a Hipshot to a Ric 3000 series bass
So, I've installed the Hipshot. Tried the soldering but could not get it to adhere to the Aluminium, so did the common resolution of sitting ground between bridge and body.
The sound is different to what it was on the old bridge, not in a good way, but it might be down to old strings.

Installing a Hipshot to a Ric 3000 series bass
Just about to install a Hipshot bridge on my Rickenbacker 3000 but found the bridge cavity deeper than expected - no mods as far as I can see. So I'm concerned the bridge won't be stable enough if the 2 front screws don't have enough purchase into the wood.

Re: Bubbling Finish Issues?
I have recently bought a new 2019 Ric 4003S. Does anyone know if the finish issues is still an issue today?

Re: Ric 4003S Matte Black finish issue
The tailpiece can't have been on too long. But one thing it does suggest, the paint/finish is not very robust. I wonder if the bass will withstand the rigours of gigging.
My 76 3000 is built like a tank and so is its finish.

Re: Ric 4003S Matte Black finish issue
Does anyone know if the Hipshot is slightly wider than the Ric tailpiece at the pickup end?

Re: Ric 4003S Matte Black finish issue
In fact the more I look at it the more I think a Hipshot has been fitted and removed again. I can't see how this would get through QC otherwise??

Re: Ric 4003S Matte Black finish issue
Bought it 2nd hand in UK so I doubt I can go down the warranty route, even though I have the warranty card. I know it was originally bought from a legit store.
Either it is a Hipshot (but not sure if the tailpiece is wider than the Ric tailpiece) or it got through Quality Control.

Ric 4003S Matte Black finish issue
I have a 2018 Matte Black Ric 4003S, but it has what seems to be a finish flaw. It is a finish issue around the tailpiece. It looks like a tailpiece template - that is slightly wider than the tailpiece the that has been fitted -had been used as a guide when the paint finish was applied. Another way ...

Nut for a Ric 3000
I've just bought a standard pre-cut ric nut for my 3000, but it seems to shallow with fret buzz. Is this the right nut for this bass?

Does anybody know if the intonation screws came with springs on the 3000. Mine don't have them??
