Re: Need tuners and plastic for a 1980 620/6

So it is! I wasn't aware of the timeline between the two colors. I must say, I thought it looked darker than the other Azureglos I've owned, and I've had several, but I just did a side by side with my '75 4001, and it's pretty close. It might be a hair darker, but I think the dark plastic made it ...

Re: Need tuners and plastic for a 1980 620/6

They call it Midnight Blue. I've had a few Azureglos, and I can't tell the difference. The serial number is TL 4926. I look forward to restoring to its original look eventually. The black plastic looks more and more to be off a 325 or similar model. Anyone think the same?

Re: Need tuners and plastic for a 1980 620/6

Brian,

Thanks for all the good tips! I actually found the template, and it doesn't line up with the original screw holes, so it looks like custom order, or an indefinite wait for one to come up on ebay. I picked up the 620 for $900, which seems fair, even with the mods, considering the vintage. It ...

Need tuners and plastic for a 1980 620/6

I recently picked up a 1980 (December) 620, and someone, at some point, swapped out the tuners for Schallers, and changed the TRC and pickguards. Am a correct that the original tuners should be Klusons, and if so, what model? The pickguard and TRC were swapped for another Rickenbacker model (black ...

truss rod parts for 4001

The '74 4001 I am considering purchasing, upon further examination, needs some truss rod work. I've read a lot of info on cutting the rods, which I might consider. Otherwise, is there someone currently producing replacement truss rods? Also, the bearing plate is really beat (bent, twisted, gouged ...

Re: Advice for a possible '74 4001 purchase

Thanks Joey! I was pretty confident about the purchase, but it's always nice to get confirmation. I've had a few 4001s in the past, but am no expert. I did my homework via the web, and just want to say that this forum came up repeatedly in my searches. Nice job for all involved here! Really thorough ...

Advice for a possible '74 4001 purchase

I have the opportunity to purchase a 4001 from a friend. Everything about it says '74, including pickup position and date code on the pots. Several issues concern me, and I was hoping for some input. The jack plate is clearly not the proper one. The letter code is "ZZ". The only info I've found ...
