Photos of an ABF and FG 4003, side by side?

I've never seen an AFG in person, and have only seen a FG 4003 from afar. Also, I notice a great deal of variation among FGs and AFGs in photos - likely due to lighting conditions, background, etc.

My 4003 is Jetglo, and down the road, I'd love to pick up a second 4003 to be strung with some ...

"Cool pic, Erik. Too bad the Genz-Benz rig was disappointing to play through."

I absolutely love my Genz Benz head. I bought a GBE600 on the Musician's Friend closeout a year or two ago, and I couldn't be happier. My GBE600 is running a pair of Bag End 15 cubes - a S-15X-D (w/coax tweeter) and a ...

Which rounds do you recommend?

Hey all, I've used the search function and came up with a few good threads about DR strings that discussed string tension, but not so much simply about which DR rounds folks would recommend.

I got my Ric last year, and it appears now that the stock strings are completely and irrevocably dead ...

'06 4003 strap pegs ? - Schaller compatible?

I've owned my '06 4003 since May, and just now am getting 'round to gigging. I had a show last month, but will have more in the near future, and want to get straplocks installed. I was curious if the Ric 4003 stock strap heads or pegs (whatever they're called) are directly compatible with a ...

Interesting points, all. I'm scheduling an appointment with Jim Mouradian to have him take a look and see what he thinks.

Acoustically, the E string is anything but anemic. Its strong, punchy, and the result is very resonant. Its simply amplified that the E is anemic. The Ric received a full ...

Scott - do you know when the 4003 models began including the hex adjustable pickups? I just did a search on the forum for a discussion about this, but can't seem to find that information. My 4003 was made in March of this year.

Hey Scott, my 4003 was made in March of this year, I believe. Should mine have the adjustable pole pieces? This is my first Ric, but it appears the pole pieces on the neck pickup have varying/adjustable heights? If so, how do I adjust the individual pole pieces? (The pickup cover is installed over ...

Hey there Rikk,

I haven't yet. I figured I'd ask 'round here first. Which pickup? Both? Or just the neck? Also, I wasn't sure about adjusting it - I figured that if I raise the E side of the neck pickup, that it would also raise the output of the A string.

Weak E string?

I have an early 2006 4003, and absolutely love it. When played unplugged, the E string and body are very resonant. However as I've been gigging and rehearsing with the bass now (still only a handful of times), I can't seem to ignore that it seems the E string is a bit anemic compared to the others ...

"Hmm...I had the Dunlop type on everything for a while. I hated the way they looked and had a failure once with the early 2 bearing type. I think the modern design has 4 bearings"

Yea James, I'm referring to the modern design with 4 bearings...they have never failed for me on multiple instruments ...

Thanks for helping me out, Paul and Jeff.

So if I may, allow me to see if I understand this correctly...the previous thread I had read (which is at the borrom portion of the page) was for getting the Ric/Shaller bolts so that the Shaller straplocks can be fitted for the Ric...now I know that I ...

(similar to previous straplock thread) Dunlops for 4

Hi everyone - this is my first foray into this wonderful forum, and the Ric community http://archives.rickresource.com/clipart/happy.gif I recently bought a "wonderfully worn" '73 4001 from a pawnshop for $500 -- I had my sights set on a Ric for quite some time (my other bass is a '75 Fender P that ...
