Lyle, you come over as being a real good guy to have around,I think you would have enjoyed the Iron Door in the 60s. I had to laugh at your "All roads lead to pizza" We certainly did get youngsters in the club of fourteen years of age. Although we did not encourage this,it is possible on a...

Hi Mark, I can see where you are coming from with your question, the band did have a Beatle connection with signing to the Apple Label in 1968, The year they were formed in Wales in 1965, the Iron Door would have been closed one year, when this band kicked off. If you could persuade Joey, the next ti...

This show was what the Iron Door was all about. Bill Bailey (incidentally was his real name) looked like a character out of uncle Tom's cabin. Bill worked during the day for the Liverpool Council, he swept the roads of Toxteth. The steel band used to play at the Jacarander, they were also residents ...

Steve,as you can see from the advertisement this had the makings of a very unusual musical night. I'm sure it was a first for all the rock musicians booked for the night. In fact we had some good positive responses from people who attended. It was a very good mixed audience just the thing the Iron Do...

Steve thanks again for your interest, after your last posting it made me think if I had responded with the correct information,I trawled once again through all the advertisements placed with the Liverpool Echo and found a little gem of an advert that some how had slipped through the net. It is for an...

Thank you Steve, I agree Ringo certainly does have the "beginning Beatle Look" I understand why you have doubts as to the year this photograph was taken. The photograph of Ringo sitting on the bench seat I dated 1962,however when Peter produced the photo of Ringo standing with the bench se...

Hi Steve, Thank you for the posting,Ringo played only once as the Beatles drummer at the Farewell Party at the Storville(aka Iron Door)March 15th 1962. At this time as you are most probable aware, Brian Epstein had become their new manager, prior to this booking on March 15th,we used to pay the Beatl...

A recent conversation with Dick Mathews revelled that on the day the photographs were taken,Ringo and Dick spent about six or seven hours at the club, amidst all the refurbishment work,Ringo made the tea and coffee for all of us working there. One of the characters Dick mentioned was the man who made...

There has been some controversy over this photograph of Ringo Starr,as to where the picture was taken. Dick Mathews arranged to take the photograph at the Storyville. We can date the picture to late August/Sept 1961. The club was closed and in the middle of a major face lift, involving new bench seat...

Pamela Beesley's visit to the Iron Door.

Pamela Beesley has contacted me with an article she wants to contribute to the Iron Door Forum. If you have visited the web site for the club you will see a more descriptive piece, by Pamela of her many visits to the Iron Door, with her friend Joy in the 1960s. I'm sure Peter will join with me to we...

Roy,We have copies, they are not commercially available.
This is an ongoing project,2,000 people attended the event, there are a lot of shots of people dancing and crowd scenes,on advice we have to cover this area for copy right.
