Bass pickup question, ohms etc..

Hi, Iv currenly been playing my 85 4003 alot now but im totaly unhappy with its tone.

with both pickups on full blast it sounds fairly decent but still weak and hollow..

on this bass no other positions are useable.
each pickup when soloed sounds terribly nasaly and hollow as well.

Hi, im looking for the seymour duncan 4001/4003 pickup set. anyone know where i can find a good deal on these? anyone want to part with a set for a trade plus some cash for my current stock 4003 pickups?

Hi all, thanks for the ideas! iv decided to just save up for a new pickguard to be made, i used crazy glue just for now and it worked very well,
you have to examine the pickguard to find the crack but it still bugs me that its there!

in 84/85 (serial indicates june 85 finish date)

Super/crazy glue ok for cracked 4003 pickguard?

Hi, i just got a 4003 in today with a chuck of pickguard broken off near the
controls,

Can i use super/crazy glue to glue the piece back on or will it melt or
react with the material or finish?

So these bass's still have the old 4001 mild steel rods???
the only difference being that the adjustment is at the body to avoid the fretboard pop off problem?

the neck on this 84 4003 isnt as strong as the newer 4003 basses?

seller says its "as new" mint.

the bass has the split pickguard, does this have truss rod adjustment at the headstock or body?

is there anything bad about having it at the body?
seems like they were made this way for only a short time, is this ...
