Re: Gotta Love Eggplant
Though I love a good fireglo, the dark, dark burgundy from the late 60s early 70s is my favourite colour. And my 4001 from 71 KA002 is still my dream bass. https://www.rickresource.com/register/v ... p?id=10030

Re: If I Could Change One Thing About My Rickenbacker ...
I'd love to have rick-o-sound on my 4001v63 and 4004cii.
Trade ‘ya my 2016 ROS 4003 for your 4004!!
Thanks for the offer, but what I really want is a 4004 with rick-o-sound! The 4004 is amazing. That's the only thing I'm missing on it is the stereo option. I even have been getting used to ...

Re: 4003s or 4004 and why.
That's a tough one, both are great!
I haven't tried a regular S, but I have a 4001v63 and 4004. They are my most versatile basses, although very different.
My 4004 is from 2008, so the neck is twice as wide (it feels like it) as the v63. So I need to adjust my playing quite a lot when I use that ...

Good to see you've got it back in shape!
I've got a even more banged up '78 4001, and it is also a great player.

There's a long thread on the topic
http://www.rickresource.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=280979&hilit=girth, and I think you can find a document with the measurements somewhere in there.
Good luck with your search!
I haven't measured mine, but from thin to thick:

Re: Left Handed Ric Basses, Non 4001(s)/4003(s)
Here's what shows up in the register for lefty basses:
http://www.rickresource.com/register/in ... =2&order=1
Two 4005, one of them 6 strings. Three 4004s and 3001s.
Not much I'm afraid.

Re: Guarding Your Rickenbackers
I broke the pickguard on my old and trusted 4003 (Yes, we were rocking out in those days), and spares were hard to get in Norway. So my drummer's dad made one out of solid iron. I had already put on a brass hipshot bridge, so we're talking a really heavy (metal) bass. I've found I plastic ...

Re: Why Did You Let Your Rickenbacker Go?
So far, I only have had to let one go, a decent jetglo late 73 4001. Sold it to fund the amazing burgundy beauty '71 I got from teeder.
My first bass, a then-new 98 fireglo 4003 has been dangerously close to let go, but luckily I've come to my senses again before it was too late

Re: Most Useful Rickenbacker Modification
I'm very happy with the mastery bridge as well. I put it on my 620 and I think it made the guitar even better.
To me the hipshot bridge was a useful mod on my 4003, to be able to tune it CGCF. Also very happy with the humbucker I have in neck position

Re: Horseshoe question
I've been trying to get my hands on a broken c64 pickup which has been replaced with a higain. I guess that makes it even more historic correct.
Do you need any socks to go with them?
As my friend has tattooed on his thighs: "trousers first, then shoes"

Horseshoe question
Does anybody know if the shoes from a 2009 (4001C64) horseshoe fit the pickup of a 1995 bass(4001V63)?
Thanks, Jon

Re: 1984 V63 Magnetic Horseshoe Pickup Question
I wonder, are the original RM1999 lighter because of the wood is lighter, or are they constructed with less wood than the ones that came later?
