Re: Dawning Realisation...
It all comes down to personal opinion, plus just what it is you're most looking for, i.e. feel, tone, prestige, price, honouring your bass-playing idol, etc. I do believe it's true that no one bass can be all things to all people. Personally, I'm shocked that Fender has any marketshare at all after ...

Also, I'm sure some people are with me when I say I almost despise the feel of a new instrument even if it is a rickie ;)

Re: Rics for sale
I'm not impressed. The seller clearly knows the 4001 isn't worth anywhere close to whats he's asking--he's looking to rip off someone who doesn't know any better. Just taking a wild shot in the dark and won't loose any sleep if some misguided person thinks it's worth $5K. I couldn't live with myself ...

Re: New Guy
Sorry, but as we all know it takes 2 years to order a Ric in Canada--you can't post anything until then.
Well... okay, I'll make an exception in your case since you've got Danny Partridge as your avatar. Like most of the folks here, Danny was my biggest bass influence growing up. :lol ...

Re: Canadian Ric repair
Welcome to the club, Dan. (I'd say Canadian Club but that has a whole different conotation!) Having once had a 74 4001 and now having a 2005 4003, I would strongly recommend that you consider selling it in exchange for a new 4003. Why? Because you mention you were looking for a player not a ...

Finally, we didn't HAVE to go full width as we made this manufacturing change but I honest felt that's what the majority of people preferred and I thought there was no downside to doing so. Thought wrong, I guess.
