Possibly moving to Washington DC....help!
Hello all, Well, it looks like the wife is getting a promotion at her company & we just may be moving to Washington DC. It would more than likely be in the western suburbs (Arlington/Falls Church/Idylwood....possibly as far out as the Reston/Dulles area). We currently live in Atlanta & I use...

Re: 3001 Bridge screws going into the body
The lead weights revelation also helps explain why 3001's are so heavy too! But oh so worth it...

Re: 3001 Bridge screws going into the body
The creation of this series was overseen by our chief electronics engineer at the time, George Cole. (He was also the architect of the TR amp series.) He is also a superb bass player and worked with many of the greats in the past. As such there were a number of little "quirks" or optimiza...

The Afghan Whigs on Jimmy Fallon (4003 content)
Not sure if anyone cares, but the '90s alt-rock group The Afghan Whigs has reunited & they performed on Jimmy Fallon last night. I'm a HUGE, HUGE fan of theirs, as well as an admirer of their bassist John Curley. He started out his career with a 4001 & has come full circle with a nice Jetglo...

One day the 3000 series will get the respect it deserves! I LOVE my 3001.

Re: Sunlight on Rics
I remember seeing a picture of a Trans Blue 4004 that had been sitting in a shop window for a long time & it faded pretty badly. It turned kinda purple-ish. Maybe it was somewhere on this forum? My memory fails me....i should have taken better care of myself in the '80s. And '90s. Uh, and the ea...

I think somewhere on some forum even John Hall expressed his admiration for the 3000/3001 series. It may have actually been on the corporate forum, but I do remember reading that at one time.

Re: 3000/3001 Models
My love for the 3001 is pretty well documented around these parts. I prefer my 1978 3001 over either my 4001 or 4003. I've always said that is sounds like a p***ed off P-bass. The single pickup just sings & aside from the weight it's very comfortable to play. I've contributed a few shots to Paul...
