Re: Then and now Rics

Here's another round... Here's me playing the same 1974 4001, though this is probably 1987? I dunno....it's all hazy from back then. (BTW, the "Young Artist" caption was not done by me. A friend of mine put that on there & it's the only copy of this picture I have.) http://i55.p...

Re: TECH 21 VT/VT DELUXE ????

The range of tones are pretty broad. (At least in an Ampeg frame of mind.) I went with the presets & just tweaked it from there. There are several "VT Bass Settings" threads over at TalkBass.com if you have the patience. Here's one: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f36/tech21-vt-settings-...

Re: TECH 21 VT/VT DELUXE ????

I have the first generation VT Bass pedal & absolutely love it. It's an "always on" pedal for me. Fattens up my tone immensely....and sounds particularly good with Rickenbackers! I have it set sort of between a fliptop & a classic SVT. I run mine through a Yorkville XS400 head &...

Nice long shot of that old black & white picture of Geddy playing a 3001 at what I believe is a soundcheck.

Fantastic series though, very well done.

Re: Michael Anthony with a RIC on Stage?

If I remember correctly, you get a quick glimpse of the b/w Rick in the video for Jump. I also read somewhere that he owns/owned a really early Rick, like a '57 or something.

It took me a few years to truly appreciate that color, but I love it now.

Glenn Hughes returns to Rickenbacker!

From his Facebook page yesterday: "Just bought a Blue 70's Rickenbacker in St. Louis... like the one I played on Burn with Deep Purple... expect to see me playin' it this week... GH" I'm pretty excited about this. Even though he only played a Rickenbacker briefly with Deep Purple, he's sti...

Re: New 3001

My love for my '78 3001 is well documented around these parts.
A fantastic bass, that finally seems to be getting some recognition. Nice, meaty angry P-Bass tone with enough of that signature Rick clank.

That is one heavy bass though.

Congrats & enjoy!

Re: Funk: A place for Rickenbacker basses?

Cordell "Boogie" Mosson used to play a 4001 with Parliament. It doesn't get much funkier than that!
