Re: 300 series return to 21 frets
Historical accuracy was not the goal. We saw a big demand for this change and did it. Even put up an IG poll at the end of last year and 21 frets won decisively. Something like 84% supported the move. Anyone that has felt this neck profile has really dug it. You might not, but at least there are pl...

Re: 2013: Another Bay Area (BARC)...Again, one of these days
If anyone is interested, one of the Ricks I'm taking to BARC will be for sale. It is a RM 1997 Reissue in near mint condition with Mapleglo finish and beautiful grain to the wood. Let me know here on the forum if you are interested or I'll see you there! Will also post in the Marketplace section. Pi...

Re: 2013: Another Bay Area (BARC)...Again, one of these days
Hi folks, I've yet to attend one of the BARCs, but would really like to this year! :D Who would I contact and what would the "entrance fee" be? On a potential plus side, I do play drums. Have the early-session duties been fulfilled yet? Perhaps I could sit-in... Will a kit be on-site? I d...

Re: 2013: Another Bay Area (BARC)...Again, one of these days
Mike, it would be great to have you be our lead-off drummer ! 8) We just share the cost of renting the facility .... estimated to be $20 or less per person, depending upon the number of attendees. We have a drum kit provided with the studio... no need to bring a drum kit. But maybe bring your favor...

Re: Hi Gain to Toaster Conversion
I knew they used a short pole pickup on the neck position of the 360/12c63, but they didn't really use the same 3K5 winding as the 325c58 on it did they? Has anyone actually measured one on a c63? If the 1997 is a re-issue model it should have either the hotter 13K toasters (if made prior to 1999) ...

Re: Hi Gain to Toaster Conversion
I repeat what I said on the other forum: 1) replace the stock lighter wound bridge toaster with a current 7.4 kohm toaster, because I believe you will notice a significant difference with the current toasters having @ 15% more wire on it compared to your current bridge position toaster, and then, a...

Re: Hi Gain to Toaster Conversion
I was hoping to keep the scatterwound just in case I don't get along with the hotter pickup. Also, it seems the hotter toasters are somewhat hard to come by these days...jps wrote:Why don't you just find someone to swap your scatterwound toasters with hot toasters?

Hi Gain to Toaster Conversion
Hi folks, I posted this topic on the Rickenbacker forum and didn't get much response, with the exception of iiipopes who urged me to take a different direction. So I decided to give it a try here. Anyway, I have a 1997 Rose Morris Reissue with two low output toasters (in the 6k ohm range). I think t...

Re: Pickup foam pads vs rubber grommets
Kind of an old thread, but I thought I would comment anyway. I recently replaced the foam pads on my 660/12 with the rubber grommets. It could definitely be a placebo effect, but to me the pickups sound a little more "airy" and "alive", not quite as boxed-in. I imagine this is ho...

Scatterwound Differences
Hello everyone, I recently purchased a gorgeous Mapleglo 1997 RI. It is one of the last produced, being completed in November of 2000. Therefore, it should have Scatterwound Toaster pickups. However, comparing them to the pickups in my '08 660/12, I noticed some differences: 1. The pickups in the 19...
