Re: 4004Cii V/V/T mod
cjj - I'm looking at the third photo down that you posted, the interior of the back of the bass. I'm trying to determine which wire coming in from the picksups is which. My guess is the one further left (9 o'clock position) is the neck pickup and the one at the 11 o'clock position is the bridge ...

Re: 4004Cii V/V/T mod
Thanks, all. I'm definitely going to do it, though the V/V/T configuration will probably give me most of tonal control I'm looking for. I looked at the wiring diagram on the SD site for a standard jazz bass and it looks like I can handle that!

Re: Neck wear from roundwounds
I do use roundwounds, because I like the brightness and punch I can achieve. I love the way they make the bass sing.

Neck wear from roundwounds
Just curious how others feel about this. I am a devoted roundwound user and am developing a fair amount of wear on the neck in various places along the string lines. In some places, the wear has even gone through the layer of finish so the wood underneath is exposed. Yet I am not overly concerned ...

Re: thinking of first bass - is fretless an option?
I play both fretted and fretless basses and view the two as distinctly different instruments. In fact, that's what I love about them: the difference allows me to play each instrument for its unique sound quality. When I know in my head what sound I want for a particular song/tune/genre, that's when ...
