Songs written by Searchers members

We've had discussions about songs written by various members of the group and performed by them, but have any of their compositions been recorded by other people? I do have a couple of tracks on a Swinging Blue Jeans CD that were written by Spencer James but don't know of any others.

I had hoped to go to the Nantwich concert myself as I only live about 20 minutes away and work about 1/4 mile from the venue! Shame I couldn't get to it, although they almost always set out the seating in a cabaret format for most things there.

I've been busy of late so have not been able to contribute to this list recently. However, just to pick up on the references to Jackie DeShannon's version of Needles and Pins, it was written by Jack Nitzsche and Sonny Bono for Jackie who was the first to record the song. Her version appears on most ...

There is also a new 'live' Searchers CD with the current line-up which is due to go on sale shortly.

Looking at the list of dates, does anyone know whether the gig at Alvaston Hall in October is a private function? It's a pretty posh hotel on the outskirts of nantwich in Cheshire - I drive past it every day going to and from work.

Being another Jackie DeShannon composition, I would not disagree either! If anyone is interested, I am the webmaster for the Jackie DeShannon Appreciation Society, whose website is at http://jackiedeshannon.tripod.com/

Roger - I don't think I'll be able to get to the Leyland date. Any sign of the band returning to do Nantwich Civic Hall again?

Mike Pender's Searchers in Concert

Is there anywhere on the internet where I can find a list of concert dates for Mike Pender's Searchers? I have seen the Searchers live on several occasions but haven't yet had a chance to see MPS, although they did play Nantwich Civic Hall (close to where I work) a year or two ago.

I've just read the piece on the website and it reminds me that I have a video of a live concert in, I think 1985, of sixties and early seventies acts which includes Mud. Presumably their line-up would have included said E. Rothe! I'll have to take another look at it!

The first recording of Needles and Pins was by Jackie DeShannon in 1963. The Searchers recording was a big hit in 1964 and is probably the definitive version. Smokie recorded the song much later in 1977. I would be very surprised if you heard their version on a 78!! The Searchers have also recorded ...

I've never heard of a Searchers track called "Can't You Just See Me". Sounds like a misprint to me, but unlikely to be of any great value, I would have thought.

Well put, Roy. I entirely agree with you. The music comes first.
