Everything that I've heard about his RM is yes, the cap was in that bass.

I know a local bass player that played on Squire's RM back in July 2013, he said the it was very light with a very high action.

I'm not positive about this but it seems to me that Squire got most of his tone out of the neck pickup. I can replicate his sound pretty closely with the nick pickup and a pick on my 79 4001, course it has a Sergio neck pickup in it which really sounds great.

Hello Miguel, I don't remember who made those straps, but I remember seeing them in the stores back in the early 70s. Seems like there would be some somewhere, eBay, Reverb, flea markets, thrift stores, etc.

Well, he may not do so any more (and as I've observed, his tracks from Fragile onward all appear to be centred in mono), but clearly, on "Starship Trooper" and "Perpetual Change" at least, the two pickups are coming from different places in the stereo picture. I am finally starting to get the picture. You had mentioned this in an earlier post on this topic. If you read Dane Wilder's post about his unit he created for split signal for mono Ricks (like my V63) , it is sort of the same concept. I gotta ask him about that unit.
