Re: Mark Bass Heads..
Really? I can pick up my RIC Blackstar right up off its stand and its sounds completely different then my 1972 Jazz bass even without amplification. I do not need to plug it in at all. Sure the PU's play a large part in the sound that is produced. Having said that...I couldn't disagree more: The Mar...

Re: Mark Bass Heads..
Mark bass users typically love their amps because they love the natural sound of their bass. Their amps do not color the signal!

Re: Another great tone from Geddy!!
His sound in that video is dead on with the album. I love the sound on Chemistry and especially Countdown. Go back and listen to the bass sound on those tracks from Signals. My favorite RIC sound!!!!!!!!!!

Jeff....That's it! Thank you. I love that guitar sound from about 2:30 through the end of the song. It is such a unique distortion.

Best source I have found thus far...
Andy Babiuk and his book on the Beatles' Gear
Andy is a great musician who I have bought most of my Rickenbackers from over the years.

Daryl Hall and John Oats
I remember there being a Daryl Hall and John Oats video sometime in the late 80's or early 90's with a wonderfully distorted Jetglo RIC guitar that Daryl was playing. The distortion was very unique. There was a break in the middle of the song where that RIC just cut through. It was an amazing sound,...

Re: Sun King
According to Walter Everett in The Beatles as Musicians (Volume 1), the Jazz Bass is played on five tracks: "Yer Blues," "Glass Onion," "While My Guitar Gently Weeps," "Sun King" and "Mean Mr. Mustard." McCartney's kept most of his instruments, and t...

Re: RIC Blackstar Owners
1. Yes Jetglo sounds better... just like red cars are faster! 2. My Blackstar does not have the two additional screws holding the tailpiece down and therefore exhibits some lift. 3. I did not know the fret board was maple. Interesting to note considering it produces a slightly different sound then m...

RIC Blackstar Owners
I have owned 3 different RIC 4001's and a brand new 4003. I recently purchased a 1989 Blackstar and have found it to be noticeably louder and punchier then any of my other basses. I love it !!! The strings are the same on all of my basses and the PU's are all set the same. Have any other Blackstar o...

Re: Ric-o-Sound Pairing
I use several Markbass heads and cabs. I think they work best when trying to reproduce the authentic sound of your bass. Most bass players who like them or use them also "like" the natural sound of their particular bass. The amp does not seem to color the signal. You might want to consider...

I also use DR low riders on everything. They last and last even after months of gigs. Nothing compares!
