Re: 4001C64S neck finish
Thanks Rick. It's my first bass and because it's a Ric, I'm super paranoid about it.

4001C64S neck finish
Hi- So I have a 4001C64S. LOVE this bass. Such an awesome instrument. It's had rounds on it for the last 5 years. I gotta wild hair and decided to try Flats (TI JF344- yikes, pricey!). Changing the strings right now. All of my Rics have a lacquer (?) finish on the necks (I've gotta 360 12 and a 610 ...

Re: G String Issue
The strings on the headstock aren't the reason I don't change them more.
It's the tailpiece bridge. It's really tough to get the nut of the string up into that and have it stay there, so I end up having to be a contortionist to do it. Beautiful guitars but the tail piece always trips me up at string ...

Re: G String Issue
Okay- YES it was just a ******, old string.
The last time I changed strings on her has been a while.
Popped a new string on and it's fine now.
I need to change the rest of them, but have to find time when I have a few hours. That's not a quick string change for that guitar.
Thanks for your help ...

Re: G String Issue
yeah, the string is easy enough to change.
I've just never seen anything like that and it seemed odd, so I asked.
Will give it a whirl and see what happens.

Re: G String Issue
As far as I know, totally recent.
Yeah, I could just grab another.
Odd that it'd tune up correctly and not fret right though.

Re: G String Issue
oops, missed the question, sorry about that.
I haven't changed anything on it as far as hardware, so I would imagine it's just the stock 6, even though it's a 12-string.
COULD it be just a bum string? Because these aren't the easiest strings to change, I do tend to leave them on
pretty long, but ...

G String Issue
Hi,
Just about to duck out the door to a gig.
I notice that when I tune my 12 string Ric with a tuner, it's great.
However, when I finger the G string, seemingly anywhere on the neck, the smaller of the two strings is flat.
if I raise the string, then it sounds funky on open chords. Never seen this ...

Compressor and String questions...
Hello-
I think this is my second post here- I have a 4001C64S C Series Bass (The story of how I acquired it is here on the forum somewhere actually). LOVE this instrument!

Re: Fun Rickenbacker birthday at a gig
Oh, yeah, she's a keeper for sure. Having a wife that supports your music jones and also encourages it is pretty special. I get the bass back today from having it set up, so I'm really looking forward to playing it.

Re: Fun Rickenbacker birthday at a gig
So, I came here looking for information on properly setting up a Ric bass. Imagine my surprise to read about my birthday experience!
Yeah, it was a bittersweet night and a complete surprise from my amazing wife. I've actually been posting over at the Rickenbacker "just basses" forum about the bass ...
