Re: Colour bleed on Midnight Blue 4003

Bringing this thread back to life since I was revisited by this problem (cross posted from TB forums)

My 05' 4003 was affected by this and about 3-4 months after I bought it, I sent it in to rickenbacker to get it refinished. The refinishing was covered by the warranty but I had to pay for shipping ...

Dealer price gouging?

So I called a dealer about an instrument that they have in stock and they quoted me more than 2x the street price of the instrument but said they could order one for me for the street price with the usual 2-3 year wait time.

Is this breaking any dealer agreements with ric?

All

I got my bass back today and it looks like new after a preliminary inspection.

I'd post pictures but I don't think they are necessary. It looks like a new MID 4003 http://archives.rickresource.com/clipart/happy.gif .

They also did a pretty nice setup job on it.

Overall a pretty good ...

Yes, I'm a lil afraid (plus it stinks to be bass-less for 2 weeks) it will happen again. I guess time will tell. After the bass is older, the finish rubbing off my look kinda cool, who knows?

Not sure if the trans color would look as good on a 4003 as it does on the 4004cii.

I think the grain of the Walnut Top of the 4004 looks terrific in trans colors but not sure how they would look on solid Maple bodies of the 4003.

I'll chime in on the subject (First Post! Yay!)

I had the same bleed on the binding of my 6 month old Mid 4003.

Talked on the phone with Kenny (Sales Mgr) and gave me a RA to return the bass for warranty work. The guy was very pleasant to talk to and easy to get a hold of.

I mailed in the ...
