The First Stone @ Smiths Olde Bar in ATL 4/20/11

So every Wednesday in April the Atlanta room at Smith's Olde Bar (Atlanta,GA) is offering free beer with a 3 buck cover. My band is playing on the 3rd Wednesday 4/20/2011....even if we're terrible that's pretty cheap beer!

Show starts at 8pm.

Re: Bass Amps... What configuration with my Rics?

Forget about watts....Just buy an amp that goes to 11 and you'll aways be louder.

Re: Bass Amps... What configuration with my Rics?

I use an old (American) Ampeg SVTIII pro head that I'm really happy with. Compact and with the built in EQ gives a lot of flexibility. My only complaint would be the cooling fan is kind of loud

For cabinets I'm all over the map and will base it on the size the venue etc. I have 2 cabinets ...

Re: Straw poll - gig them or not?

I guess if I actually owned a bass that was in pristine condition and worth a ton of money I would keep it protected and never take it to a gig....but once the first scratch is on it the gloves are off!

That GreenGlo is amazing. For personal choice thought I just love the look of Fireglo.

Re: Tail-lift a possible cure?

I'm not sure how others went about the repair, but I had really good luck with this plate I made. It's just a scrap piece of aluminium with a channel milled to accomodate the saddle area. After that, drilled and tapped 4 holes for the bolts to hold the bridge in place and draw it back down to flat ...

Re: I just joined the 4001 club...

I'm definately with Joey on the stringing method. Everytime I see a strings sticking out like that it drivers me nuts...the only thing worse for me is when the string isnt trimmed at all and the excess is curled up into little circles! But hey, to each their own :D

Re: Post of picture of you PLAYING your ric

HA! Thanks guys for not being too hard on me. My collection is up to 25 basses and 3 guitars and I'm running out of room fast. I do have one space I'm saving for a 4008 though....one day, one day.

Things I encourage everyone to make fun of:
1) yes, those are 2 (yes 2!) Rudy Sarzo signature basses behind me
2) Camoflage pants...come on, really
3) Aluminum neck striped flying vee
4) My choice of window treatments.

Things your are not ...

Re: What's your favorite bass to play?

Thanks to all for the welcome and comments the Ricks. I've had the 4003 since around '98, Buying the FG may have turned me into a Rickenbacker nut because I keep thinking about getting another one, or two or three! It's a dangerous brand to fall in love with.

Re: What's your favorite bass to play?

Thanks guys, I'll definately have to take some good pics of the 72 and my 92 4003 as well. Actually, my 72 was already in the register. I think it was a collected item that someone added from the ebay auction (LG 628), but those pics arent that great and I was able to get the correct wavy grover to ...

Re: What's your favorite bass to play?

This seems like a good thread to make my first post!

It seems like my favorite one to play changes from time to time but lately I'm in love with my new-to-me '72 4001. Prior to getting it I was playing my Musicman Clutlass primarily but I think it may have officially lost it's "top spot" status to ...
