Re: BAD RONBO MEETS TOM GOODE !

LOL! Great to meet you too Ronbo! Now, if the time comes that I decide to sell my Les Paul Triumph bass I'll be able to fetch top dollar for having an "artist played/owned" connection, hehehe. Thanks a million for the tuners. My plan is to use the shell, worm and key from one of them with ...

Looking for a certain guitar...

For sentimental reasons... Has anyone seen a late '60s, early '70s 625 (?) that matches this description Mapleglow Gibson stamped PAF with black surround installed as bridge pickup (or was it the neck?) Toaster neck pickup (or was it the bridge?) full width crushed pearl inlays black plastic bodied ...

Re: Are 1973 basses models special?

I know that '73 was the last year of checkered binding. That's generally more desireable.

Re: Rickenbacker the latest rage with the kids?

Tom, unless you need to have the Fender name on the headstock check out the offerings from G&L, specifically, the USA made JB or JB-2; I have the latter, before knowing about the former, which I would have bought. Unfortunately, If I had one of those I would be sorely tempted to break out the b...

Re: Rickenbacker the latest rage with the kids?

Excuse the necro-post, but it took me about 30 years from the moment I knew I wanted a Ric bass to the moment that I owned one (a few days ago). During those 30 years I owned a varied assortment of basses that ranged from pedestrian and cheap (an El Degas P-Bass copy) to odd and collectable (a Teisc...

Re: New (to me) '81 4001 - Questions

Huh, cool!

Thanks, Brian!

The JG 481 they sold at the same auction is also available at the store I bought the 4001 at. I think they want about 1300 for it.

Either this store is getting inventory from the auctions, or ???

Re: New (to me) '81 4001 - Questions

Not sure what you mean by "tabs of the neck binding," but the frets are correct. Schallers from that timeframe typically have black plastic spacers. What I mean is that the fret wire doesn't extend to the edge of the fingerboard - it goes as far as the neck binding and there is a bit of n...

New (to me) '81 4001 - Questions

Hi all, This is a cross-post - originally posted on the Ric forums a couple hours ago... I just yesterday bought a used Rickenbacker 4001 (1981) from a very reputable Toronto retailer who is well known for higher end instruments. It is a 4001 in Jet Glow - Serial is UB 603 which makes it Feb 1981 pr...
