Re: My Transonic...
That would be an idea. Honestly, from the other ones I have seen out there, most seem to have good grill cloth. In that regard, I guess I drew the short straw. I do have some progress to report. I have been having the cart made (yes, short straw there as well). Have the 1" square tubing bent. N...

TV knobs on a 4001...?
I am curious if anyone has installed TV style knobs on their 4001. I found a photoshop styled photo here on the forum, but nothing "real". I also saw a posting that they would not fit...at least in the stock locations. I wonder if one had a new pickguard made, the switches could be spaced ...

Re: A noob question regarding 4001 tailpiece and bridge...
As it turns out, I will have an original aluminum tailpiece, so at least that is covered. I will want it re-chromed. I know a few shops...one in LA and one back in Pennsylvania that I feel I can trust. Does anyone have another suggestion? Someplace they had there done and feel it was top notch?

Yeah, guess that would be the best idea. I will try and call them tomorrow and see what is the best way to go about it.....jdogric12 wrote:James, send your original to Pickguardian so he can make you a custom one in the color you want with the same holes.

Thanks for the pictures!
Gives me some idea what my options are. I want the vibe of the 1960ish Blue Boy but not sure I want to add extra holes to make the more accurate pickguard. Not even sure that would look good actually........Then again, why not?

Pic of a 4001 or 4003 with a gold pickguard...wanted
I was curious if anyone has put a gold pick guard, same color as those in the 50's and early 60's, but the shape of the later 60's and on 4001's....or 4003's for that matter. I am thinking of doing a 4001, 'blue boy' in color and was wondering how it would look with a gold pickguard that is not in t...

Re: My Transonic...
I have redone the grill cloth. The original material is not to be had, so I came up with a replacement that I like: In fact, I had a large roll of this material in my locked cage in the corner of the warehouse. My wife got in there, thought it was ugly and useless, and had the guys put it in the du...

Re: A noob question regarding 4001 tailpiece and bridge...
Ok, so I should keep my eyes open for an Aluminum tail piece if possible. How about for the bridge? Are those the same as the current ones that Ric sell?

Re: My Transonic...
I NEVER get tired of seeing Transonics! That's a great substitute grille cloth. What size speakers are loaded in your cabinet? Well, originally, it was a 15 with a pair of 12's. As I will be using it for bass, I kept the 12's but added an 18. Again, I will post more pics soon. Let's just say, this ...

James, that's real cool ! Congratulations ! 8) You'll have to bring that baby to one of our Southern California Ric Jam sessions/ Confluences .... Well, I do plan on using this for gigs. It is not trailer queen (to mix in some vintage car lingo). And, as it turns out, I am in Southern California!

Re: A noob question regarding 4001 tailpiece and bridge...
Well, the '73 I am looking at is a March make, so I gather that should have originally had an Aluminum tail piece. As I will need to refinish the guitar anyway, a 3 or 5 hole tail piece does not really matter to me. Am I correct that all (including the new ones) are subject to 'lift'?

I was able to acquire this around a year ago from Craigslist. I will post pictures as I make progress, but here is the picture from the ad....and the way I found it: http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y137/Sartana/Music/TransonicOriginalPic-Feb2011.jpg I have redone the grill cloth. I play with a thumb pick, so don't have that issue!
